I Know It's Going to Sound Weird But....

Not a "formal" night, but there is a "Dress Up Optional" night.

Awwww, well, in reading other threads on dress-up optional night, there aren't many who actually do, so my glitter updo would really stand out! :rotfl:

Women's up do
  • Price (Depending on length and thickness of hair) from $48 + 18% Gratuity

Please note, an 18% gratuity will automatically be applied to all spa services.

When a formal onboard occasion calls for an elegant up do, our hairdressers can help. Make an appointment to create a look that will turn heads.

Add some glitter and it definitely will! :bride:

Don't forget to pack your tiara. Why should the little princesses have all the fun? I've seen an occasional Queen Mum on board.

Second the vote to pack your tiara and make an appointment at the salon. I have a feeling that if you mentioned it in advance - they might even be able to procure some glitter...

How come women can't get the BBB glitter updo treatment? I think that would be such a cool experience, that I never had when I was litte. I told you it was going to sound weird! Don't judge me! LOL :wave2:

Hi,

I do not judge you at all! I think it would be so cool to go to BBB on the cruise ships. I would love to go! I have had a few BBB experiences before once at WDW and a few times in DL when I was younger, but now I am 21 and I still want to do it again! While it is not the same if the cruise you are on offers the hair beading station, you could do that. However, sadly they will not give you glitter in your hair or a tiara.

My daughter and I have tiaras, going on the Fantasy Friday. Where else can you where a tiara but Disney? :)

We had a Prince & Princess dinner night on our WBPC. I wore a tiara for the first time in my life...and I didnt feel stupid either. It was a lot of fun. My kiddo liked it too.

Thanks for joining me! LOL I'm glad that I am not the only one who feels this way!

Sis & I have worn tiaras at WDW Cindy' Castle and out and about.....will do it on cruise.....let us know how the glitter works out. What I want is a princess dress! My ballerina career ended around the age of 7 and I miss the fluffy tutu look.

Just off a four night to the Bahamas and we participated in the optional dress up. The guys were in suits and the girls all sparkled a little. There were enough other people who dressed nicer on that night that we didn't feel out of place at all. I say go for it! Whatever makes your night. Even if you have to bring your own tiara and glitter! I brought my own body glitter for my little girls that night since I am pretty good with up-dos.

I think every night should be dress-up optional night. Seriously. If I were on a cruise (or anywhere, really) and someone came in dressed to the nines, even if I were just at Burger King, I would assume they're either celebrating something special, celebrating life or just being wild for the night.

This'll sound like a profound reference but bear with me. My friend's daughter was 6 on 9-11-01. She was well aware of what happened because we had a family member in the tower (she's okay) so she knew the panic we'd been in. Earlier on that year, she had been at a birthday party and the hat she picked was one of the plastic tiaras from the dollar store. She wore her tiara every Sunday to Sunday school. It was scratchy, some of the 'jewels' were gone but she wore the hell out of it. We were going to church on 9-11 and she went to put her tiara on ("I always wear my tiara to church!"). Her granny said this wasn't the time and asked her to remove it. I felt bad...it meant the world to her and I thought - for her to want to look her best on this evening was really touching. (In the end she did wear it but Granny wasn't pleased.)

BTW -- I work at a thrift shop. We get so many beautiful bridesmaid dresses in and sell them for so cheap so if you wanna' look for a formal but don't want to spend a lot. Support a charity shop with a mission! Any of them!

I got my formal dress at our local Salvation Army store. With my senior discount it only cost me $8.00!

My then 7 year old had the BBB experience. For her it was like fairy godmothers were hovering over her. For her it was truly magical. I don't think you'd get the same effect as an adult.

Some of us still like to be pampered, even in our old age. One reason we cruise Disney is because we still believe in the magic.

But that's the thing, there's a good chance one would get the same effect.

Something happens if you don't get there 'til you're an adult. The Disney-you comes out that you didn't even know existed and it's because you have something that the children don't have yet - memories. Kids go to the parks and see what 'is', adults go there and see Winnie the Pooh and remember a time that he was their favourite entertainer. They may remember when he came with them to the hospital or he was the one they could talk to. They remember lip-syncing to the records. Children don't have the retrospect yet.

When my BFF and I were children was about the same time the Main Street Electrical Parade started and they showed it on the Wonderful World of Colour. It wasn't even IN colour on our TVs but we just shook our heads and 'knew' there was no way we were ever going to see it. And when we finally did get to Disneyland in 1986, it was over. So when I was in WDW in February and they started it up - I couldn't believe that it was on! I shed a tear because I wanted my friend to be with me to see it - I can't imagine being any more thrilled if I had seen it as a child.

So I totally think any age could get a 'high' being BBB'd.

Ive read some trip reports where someone did BBB in the parks and did it on the ship. Did they change the rules then? I remember vividly the trip report as she was given the wrong day and had to check in again etc.

So very true! We did visit Disneyland once, maybe twice, when I was a child, but I don't think they had anything like BBB, at that time. If they did, my mom was on a strict budget, and probably wouldn't have been able to afford it. Most women have a Disney princess living inside them! princess: I am totally not a weirdo, but I think it would be soooo cool to have that "princess treatment". :earsgirl:
