My kids are 13 (girl) and 10 (boy). It just seems like every year it gets harder and harder to come up with good ideas. Even the kids have a hard time coming up with something new that they don't already have!!

So, I need help!
Any ideas???:confused3

DD (18) - Coach purse and wallet
DS (16) - Digital Camera and accessories
DN (14) - Coach hipster purse
DN (14) - Coach hipster purse
DN (12) - 2 sweatshirts, 1 abercrombie & 1 hollister
DN (11) - Flannel pajamas (I'm taking her to WDW 2 weeks b4 xmas)
DN (9) - Star wars pajamas and something for hisThomas the Train
DN (6) - Flannel pajamas and Little Pet Shop set (she got a trip to WDW last fall)

I also bought Coach purses for the two 18 year old twins I took in when their parents abandoned them.

I have no idea of what to get my parents yet. We always send DH's mom Omaha steaks. DH and I don't exchange gifts.

My dd (6 but soon to be 7) wants more AG dolls and an ipod. Now my soon to be 3 year old son, I have no clue as what to get him.

Right now its early but once the retailers start up with the commercials there will be tons on their lists.
Instead of trying to surprise them why not just ask them to make a list and tell them you ( or Santa) will choose a few from the list? I tend to surprise my kids with the extra little gifts like gift cards for I-Tunes, Club Penguin Puffles, candy I don't usually let them eat... stuff like that.

My DS11 wants a new TV. We will be donating the old one to their grammar school for the Nurse to use when kids are stuck there because a parent has to work.

My DD10 wants a DS because ours broke in May, and clothes.

Our family gift each year is an overnight trip to the Marriott Marquis in NYC with good restaurants and a visit to the Tree in Rockefeller Center. It's extravagant but we have so much fun together:goodvibes I would give up everything else before I gave that up, its now our tradition and I love it.

DD10 is getting Ugg boots and ballet slipper Crocs. DD9 is getting Mammoth Crocs. (BTW thanks to the budget board for deals on these).

We are talking about laptops for the girls, but need to find a good deal.

I think I am getting DH an iPod.

Everyone needs clothes and slippers.

Other than that, I have no ideas. :confused3

I was also thinking of a new coach purse for DD. Thanks for sharing.

I must say you really give nice gifts to your DN and DN's. :) Did you get the Coach purses on sale somewhere or have you been buying them all year?

My 8 year old son pretty much wants all Legos all the time.
Toys R Us has a Buy 2 get 1 free on all Lego sets, so I went on Monday and got 6 sets, so he's pretty much done for Christmas-I'll wait until December to get him a couple more things so if he asks for something else I'll still be able to get that.
He's so easy.

My almost 10 year old daughter-no idea! She used to be so easy but now she doesn't ask for anything and I run out of ideas. I am thinking of one of those little laptops, the ones that are only like $300. She'd totally love that, so maybe! We were definitely going to give it as a joint gift for the kids this year, but now I have $200 worth of Legos for my son, so..maybe the laptop just for my daughter. And then..whatever she may ask for, I need ideas! I also have her birthday at the end of October.

Now stockings I love to do, so easy for both kids-lip gloss and hair stuff for DD, little Lego sets for DS, gift cards for movies and Burger King for both of them..stockings were always my favorite-both to give and get!

Love your Hotel tradition! It IS those special times that are the most treasured memories.

I'm pretty much done with the kids, they were pretty easy this year as far as what they want, these are what they asked for.
dd11- ipod touch
ds8 Wii games, ds games, star wars figures & legos
ds5- Nintendo DS & games for it, star wars figures & legos

well, I hadn't thought a whole lot along xmas gifts yet....but.....we pretty much only buy for our DD's, we get a few small things for our parents but not anything extravagent. This xmas the main gift for our family is probably going to be a DCL Alaskan cruise.

things I am thinking about:
dd 7 - ipod shuffle, ds lite, bike
dd 4 - bike ?? I don't know??

OH, I love to do stockings too!! I think that stockings are one of my very favorite parts of Christmas Day! We always come down in the morning and go through our stockings & Santa's gifts very first thing, then have breakfast, then tackle the presents.
OOOO, just talking about it- is getting me excited for the holidays!!:yay:

my ideas so far (some of it actually purchased - yeah!!)...

for DD(will be just about 10 at Christmas so have her winter b'day too):
*Vera Bradley small duffel, small purse and wallet (may save the purse and wallet, but wanted to buy them matching - got on sale)
*American Girl items
*a collage/plaque-type thing with professional photographer pictures from some of her gymnastics meets
*gift cards for Gymboree/Gap Kids/Justice and a girls day shopping/lunch with mom

for DS (14):
*concert or sports event tickets
*gift cards to movies & restaurants

for nieces:
(7) American Girl doll clothes/furniture
(almost 5 and 3 1/2) Bitty Baby/Twins clothes with matching outfits for the girls (to match their dolls, not each other)

Its been a little of both. I've been buying them all year and have gotten some great deals. We have a Coach Outlet near us and I get coupons every so often for an additional 20% off. Also, the outlet mall where the store is runs promos throughout the year. One time it was take 25% of any one item in participating stores for a $1 donation to breast cancer. The Coach Outlet store always participates.

We also have a regular Coach store in our mall and I get discount coupons for the retail store too.

Sorry, can't help ya there. This year we aren't getting them anything..... other than a suprise trip to DISNEY WORLD!!!! We leave 2 days after chirstmas. Can't wait!!!!!

Our kids' big gifts this year will be full-sized Lands End Bean Bag chairs. They have the junior sized ones that have held up really well for 3 years but are outgrowing them. So, new bean bag chairs are at the top of both of their lists.

They also want new Hop Balls (the inflatable balls that a kid sits on a hops around). They got those around 3 years ago and have outgrown them.

Also, DS8 wants anything Lego. He's getting the Lego Remote Control Car. And I might renew his Lego Club membership (that was a gift last year... big hit getting a new lego minikit in the mail every 2 months).

DD5 is into arts and crafts (and not much else). So she's getting a "make your own sock puppets" kit and maybe a beginner's knitting kit.

Also, they'll each get a new book. And we do the Lego Advent Calendar. And I bought the Playmobile Nativity Set so we'll do that this Dec. also.

I also LOVE stockings. I think we may go to doing only stockings when the kids are older (and Santa isn't a consideration). When I was younger, my Mom knit up some HUGE stockings for myself and my brother. You could seriously stretch those suckers to 3 feet long. I'd love to knit up some big stockings and have our family fill each others' stockings.

DD12 is getting:

Ipod
Custom designed Chuck Taylors - she has seen them and gave her approval.
Vera Bradly eye glass case, Hobo bag, garment bag, and wallet. I got these at their Spring sale all for $50.00, instead of the $200+ I would have regularly paid.
Taylor Swifts release of Fearless CD.
Movies - Holes and the origianl Music Man - I am sure there will be a couple more,
New flat iron and hair dryer
Tomb raider game for Xbox360
Precious Moments figure - Magic of Friendship (Wendy and Tink)
She'll get a couple of new books.

There may be a few other things, but that will all depend on what the stores do for black friday sales.

DS14 has emailed me his list this year. It is coded with a legend showing how happy he would be to receive a particular gift :rotfl2: He is asking for a lot of video games Section 8, Assassin's Creed 2, an iphone, a book, and he is still into Lego Bionicles.

Every year I try to limit the gifts to three: an article of nice clothing, a book and a fun thing. But every year it seems so puny that I end up getting way more.

For my older step sons we usually get them gift certificates for work clothing. And then one item so they have something to open.

I used to get my nieces very nice gifts but I have recently discovered that because of my brother's parenting style they have destroyed everything I have ever given them. So I will send a book and that will be it.

I can't for the life of me think of anything for DH. He is already getting himself a guitar and I don't know what he needs for his motorcycle. :confused3

Stockings always baffle me. My family is German and we always opened our gifts on Christmas Eve and didn't do stockings. But when I got married we integrated our traditions. We open the gifts on Christmas Eve but open the stockings and the "Santa Gift" in the morning.

Well ..

both pair of grandparents- no idea. ..
