I know I am going to get "flamed"

I would just like to say that I am incredibly happy that this new package will be benefiting a great number of people (many of whom are on this board). Does this package benefit me.... no. I am not going until December. Do I wish that a great package comes out for my dates... sure. Would I like a bargain... sure. But will I be "disappointed", "saddened" or "mad" if it doesn't.... no. I plan my vacations with no intentions of getting discounts. If I cannot afford to book the package to begin with... I don't. Any discounts are just "icing on the cake". But... I am okay with any cake without icing ;) ... pound cake is quite good :p . Anyway, I just wanted to say to all my fellow DISers who benefited from this package... I am not bitter. I am extremely happy for you. And I am extremely pleased with Disney for making the effort to bring new and returning guests to Disney in the hopes of increasing their numbers. Maybe that way the hours will go back to "normal" so those people can stop complaining... not that there is anything wrong with that.

Sorry... flame away :o

No Flaming here.

That is just how I feel. Thank you. Any savings that we get always goes back into another Disney vacation down the road.

Sorry Kim...no flaming happening here!!! I agree with you. Do I count on codes when I book? No, but it sure is nice when it happens. So, I book what I can afford (barely!) Yes, I am one of the lucky ones that could get FT package. And because of it, I got to upgrade to the Poly!! So, I'm really hoping that the rest of you, going after Oct. 30, can get somethingwonderful too!!

No flames here either. I am (like you) one of those that will not benefit from the FTV Package but I am glad for the ones here that will. In fact , I told my husband to tell everyone he works with about it that is planning to visit during that time. Think about how many happy kids there might be because of this pkg!;)

No flames here, either. An entitlement mentality is a good way to make sure that things don't go as planned. Life is much more fun when enjoyed for what it is now, and the pleasant surprises that may come along later! A pleasant surprise would be a lower rate for my December trip as well... see you at the AKL!

Erin :D

Hi.. no flames from me...

Three trips in a row I paid full rack rates.. ouch.

This was the first time I have received any type of discount - and it's 600.00 - and I am happy about it.

Crossing my fingers something will come up for December that will blow your socks off!

>>^..^<<

:( Rats. I wanted to flame you, and then you posted a generous, selfless message. No fair!

I am also a Dec visitor, and a DVC member and an AP holder, so I'm out on three straight pitches as far as the Fairytale package is concerned. But I hope the resorts and parks are full of visitors this year, and everyone has a great time.

No fire so far;) ...

I've been know to wonder why they do some of the things they do, but no complaints here either. I'm a DC member, but can't use the new discounts either.

I think it's great that they offered this to DC members and while I know little about marketing strategies, this one seems very smart to me. As I said in another thread, I hope it's very successful. I want to see WDW back where it used to be. If that means codes and discounts go to the wayside, so be it. I love the lower prices, but they are a sign that things aren't going well and that's not good for anyone.

I will be traveling Dec 26 to Jan 3 and I know that the likely hood of discounts for this time is slim and none. Even if a good package deal like this did come out for my time frame, It would really have to be one heck of a deal for me to cancel my reservations at the Swan (club-level, King size bed, view facing Epcot $209 a night).

How about just a spark!
I AM happy for everyone who got this PKG.
I just am really hopeing for an AP rate for our trip.
If it dosent happen, it dosent happen.
That as they say is life.
To be truthful though, It is VERY frustrating to be waiting for whatever codes that I can use to get my cost down, Get a huge teaser a couple days before and have it something that I cannot use.
That doesnt make my mad at the one that can though, I am really happy for them.
I am just going to have to keep waiting and hopeing for something I can use. It would be nice to do some extra things, like the cruise or eat at a nicer place or even be able to stay at the YC for all our 7 days instead of just five of them and not two at ASM(not my fave)

No flames for you, but probably for me. I have posted many times on these code threads that people shouldn't expect a code. I booked what I could afford and if I got a code rate - cool! I also agree with you about thepeople grousing about the hours. If more people came to justify longer hours, they would be there! Hopefully this package will do just that - get "butts in the seats" if you will. And I think if this is a new marketing campaign, if it goes well, it might very well be extended into November and December value seasons. We just have to wait and see.

I already have my son's first grade teacher interested in booking and one of my friends is seriously thinking about it.

No flaming from me either. I think the package is a good deal and we are even going during then time, Oct 7-14, but we are dvc member and using our points. If we werent dvc I would have def taken the package--and Im really dying to stay at the Poly concierge or AKL concierge but I just cant spend that money when I dont really have to.

Kim--no flames from me either. I feel the same way you do. I expect to pay rack rate and any discounts or upgrades that come along are like "found money".

It seems like lately this entire board is about "how can I get a free upgrade", "how can I get a discount or code", and "I'm so mad about not getting either of the above". In all my trips to WDW I've gotten one free "suprise" upgrade, and one "guaranteed upgrade" after I complained about a very bad stay (service related problems) at a resort.

Have all my trips been perfect? Far from it. But I wouldn't dare expect to be compensated if I or a family member got sick, if the weather was so hot, cold, or rainy that we couldn't really spend a day in the parks, if my flight was delayed or I had car problems on the way...and so many other things that I read people complaining about that are not WDW's fault. As a share holder I'm getting very upset about all of the things WDW is giving away to basically shut unhappy guests up, even if it wasn't in any way, shape, or form WDW's fault for the guests unhappiness.

I also think that all the talk of upgrades sets guests up for disappointment. Upgrades are much rarer than one would think after reading these boards.

Also not everyone can have the very best view, it's a fact of life. On a recent trip I had a 1BR at the BCV. It had a teensy balcony (standing room only) and no balcony from the BR, only a window. Was I happy? Not really, but I didn't complain. Why? Because on other trips I HAVE gotten the "best view in the house". It all equals out.

It just seems that a lot of people have gotten the "GIMME Mentality". Not only do they want a rock bottom rate, but also the best room and best view in the house. And then they get PO'ed when they don't get it. Something is simply not right with that picture.

Thats how I like my cake too!

Kim I totally agree with everything you said, so up unitl now you are to remain FLAMELESS! We are also going December, and it would be great to get a package, but we have already budgeted for AKL 1 b/r and offsite at the Ritz Cartlon so if something better comes up than fine it not, we are ok with that too. I do have a package booked for the 1st of August as well, but its only for 5 nites, so this package does me no good. I can't and I don't want to extend my stay but I am certainly not bitter that others are getting to take advantage of the offer.

Whew.... I was afraid I would need a fire retardant suit :p

Laura & Erin.... if we are there the same time, we should try and get together for coffee or something. Right now, we are going from the 13th - 20th but may need to move it to the 6th - 13th.

It seems like lately this entire board is about "how can I get a free upgrade", "how can I get a discount or code", and "I'm so mad about not getting either of the above".
Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Thanks everyone... have a great and magical day :D

No flaming from me, I am always amazed with the people that get mad because the codes have not come out or they are not as good as they wanted. I often wonder what they do when they vacation in other places. Hey a discount is great, and if I can get one I am very happy, my first year on these boards in '99 I tried and tried to get a good deal at the GF, but no luck and we paid rack rates and we still had a great vacation.
When I want to go to WDW I make my plans, if a deal comes out during my dates, great if not oh well. I already budgeted a certain amount of money and stay within my budget.
With this new package, I am seriously thinking of taking a solo trip in September, I have really gotten the bug to go once a year and had not planned a trip this year.
Good luck to all who get the discounts, and to those who are planning on future trips, hang in there I am sure the good deals will be forthcoming.

Ya know, sometimes I don't even think it's about the money.

This board is so helpful when it comes to saving money at WDW -- I know sooooooooooo many people that just go and pay full price, even when I tell them about discounts they could get.

But we here are so into it....a code comes or a postcard gets sent to one of us and the frenzy begins! I think that sometimes people just feel left out when it seems like they are the only ones not getting a really great rate.

We've almost turned this into a competition -- "<i>I got the Grand Floridian for $99 a night! Just <b>try</b> and top <b>that</b>!":p

I am really sorry, Brian, but that code was a special <i>just for me</i> code -- We love Hayley -- (WLH) that can only be used by me for me and from my phone lines!

Don't even think about trying to use it if you aren't me!!!:D
