I knew the BCV seemed smaller!!!!

In my trip report TRIP REPORT AUG 2004

I noted that the BCV 1 BR we were in seemed small compared to the BWV 1BR ---now I have seen some numbers that back me up from the touringplans.com website ---they list square footage for each resort.***

The difference between the two is almost as much as the difference between the BWV 1 BR and the very spacious OKW 1 BR...

The OKW are bigger than the BWV by an area about 11 x 11 feet...and the BWV are bigger than the BCV by an area about 9 x 9 feet. so the OKW are bigger than the BCV by an area about 15 by 15 feet!

Just some numbers to confirm the impression...in exchange for the use of SAB you do surrender some living space.

***I don't know how they measured the sq footage because they have different numbers than the ones we have seen posted here previously....

Two years ago my 5 year old daughter, who had stayed nowhere other than OKW up until then, walked into the our 2br at BCV looked around for a moment..then turned to me with a puzzled look on her face and asked: "Where's the rest of it?"

Depends on what publication you use. The Unofficial guide has one set of numbers(which have BWV larger than BCV) while Allears has another set of numbers(BCV larger). I just think of them as all the same size except OKW, which has larger 1 & 2 bedrooms.

By the way, 2 bedrooms at 1000+ sq. ft is larger than some of the homes that are selling in Southern California for over $500,000, and much larger than what many people have when vacationing at WDW(like Pop or All Stars with 275 sq. ft for 4 people).

And as noted it all depends on whose numbers you cite...I can only speak for myself and say the the BCV definitely seemed smaller NOT larger than the BWV and I would be shocked if the numbers posted here saying they are bigger are true. It may be a matter of the sq footage that "matters." As I noted in my trip report---the useful living space sq footage in a BCV has to be less than BWV because the way the rooms are set up....the door connecting the Studio to the 1BR is in the LIVING ROOM of the BWV so that is extra space that is moved to the front foyer in the BCV...Those few sq feet in the living room vs in the fron hall would make the BCV living space seem smaller...

All I can say is that the 1BR we had at BWV was tiny, and the studio at BCV was smaller than OKW but more spacious in many ways than the 1BR at BWV. Part of this was because we had a dedicated studio at BCV.

Are we to believe that every 1-bedroom at BCV is the same size, and the same is true for BWV? I expect there's some variation, so it's possible to go from a larger 1-bedroom at BCV to a smaller 1-bedroom at BWV, and vice versa.

The furniture in the room also can make the room appear smaller. Plus the wall decor, paint, etc. can also make the room seem smaller or larger. Dedicated studios seem bigger than lockoffs.

Generally, the BWV, BCV, VWL and SSR all are in the same neighborhood for size since their design is so similar. Now, OKW, well, that's a different story all together.

...and, of course, guest size is a major factor. Put Shaq and The Fridge in a room at OKW and it'll seem smaller than the All-Stars.

We have stayed in one bedroom units at BWV, VWL and BCV (the last two mulitiple times) and have found them all to be about the same. But even the rooms at the SAME resort seemed a bit different in size. I think it really depends on the unit you get as well as the final layout.

We have also had one stay in a Vero one bedroom and it was just huge! I'm sure that is what the OKW folks get to enjoy! Very Nice!

But ALL the one bedrooms have been wonderful, and SOOOOO much nicer than staying in a standard hotel room. Loved them all so far! I've really had NO desire to break out the measuring tape to see that I have an extra 6 inches at any of them!

I trust the Unofficial Guide on most things but some of their room sizes seem to be suspect.

I wrote to Len Testa of the UG about this and he says that they use their own tape measure to report sq footage....and the whole point of my post is not that it is a difference of 6 inches..or even a few feet like the difference between and OKW studio and all the other studios...but that the difference is a substantial 9 x 9 feet area--that is not chump change.

We've stayed at HHI, VWL, BCV, and BWV in studio's, one bedrooms, and 2 bedrooms and found them all much more than adequate when you compare them to All Stars and the moderates where we used to stay. Frankly, we've stayed at GF and AKL and while we love GF and like AKL DVC studios still seem better than the standard rooms at GF and AKL.

Believe me I am very content with the size of the DVC accomodations so even if there are variations in the room sizes from DVC resort to DVC resort it isn't a big deal to us.
