Dan Whitney is the comdedian who created Larry the Cable Guy. Check out the last statement of his bio. I guess if you can create a redneck character that earns millions, you have to be brilliant! LOL

Birth Name
Daniel Lawrence Whitney

Nickname

The Freight Train of Comedy

Height
5' 10" (1.78 m)

Spouse
Cara Whitney (2005 - present) 2 children

Trade Mark
His catchphrase, "Git -R- Done!"

Thick Southern accent

Baseball cap with a fish hook on it

Trivia
His signature catchphrase is "Git-R-Done.".

He is a member of the Blue Collar Comedy group, a group of "rednecks" who do stand up and sketch comedy together.

Is expecting first child with wife Cara, due August 2006. They plan on naming the baby Reagan (he says because Ronald Reagan was the greatest president ever) if its a girl or Colton (because he says its a good cowboy name and he likes cowboys) if its a boy.

His favorite comedians are Steve Martin, Don Rickles, Milton Berle, and Henny Youngman. He has met Henny Youngman. Larry says that he's in the comedy business because of those guys, and a friend named Nick DiPaolo, who used to do stuff on Comedy Central.

Larry is a huge University of Nebraska fan (mostly football). Although he's lived in Florida for 27 years, he still calls Nebraska home. His accent is a combination of Pawnee City, NE and his current home near Orlando, FL. He's lived there since he was 16. He's bought a second home south of Lincoln, watches as many games as he can and recently bought one of the new (2006) sky boxes in the North end-zone. He tries to wear some article of clothing (usually a hat) that says "Nebraska" or "Huskers" during every performance.

One of his closest friends is fellow comic Lewis Black, who is pretty much his opposite when it comes to political views, background and performance material.

While Larry's stand-up act contains a great deal of raunchy material he does not use four-letter words.

Well before hitting it big with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, he contributed short, daily commentaries for the rock station 101.1 WJRR, which broadcasts out of Maitland, Florida. He also had put in a short stint with another Orlando-area rock station (100.3 WDIZ) before they abruptly changed formats, prior to his work with WJRR.

Daughter, Reagan, born 29 October 2007.

Son, Wyatt, born August 2006.

Father, with Cara, of a boy named Wyatt (b.August 2006) and a girl named Reagan (b. October 29th 2007).

In 2007, Forbes Magazine estimated his earnings for the year at $20 million.

Is a member of Mensa.

No kidding. Most funny folks I know are very smart, so I guess that makes sense.

:rotfl2:

I DVRed his roast and can't wait to watch it.

Member of Mensa? Wow!!! :worship: Go, Larry!!

I remember hearing Larry doing his stint on a radio station before he became a big star. But it wasn't a Florida station, it was KML on 98 Rock in Baltimore, I think.

We love Larry. We have season tickets to Nebraska home football games (Go Big Red!!! :cheer2: ) and Larry is there nearly every Saturday in his sky box - it's not very far from where we sit.

For a certain period of time before the game starts, he hangs out the skybox window and signs autographs. A couple of years ago, when Southern Cal played in Lincoln, Will Ferrell, who is a HUGE Trojans fan, came to the game and both of them hung out on the sidelines together for a while (apparently they are also good friends).

We watched the roast last night. Lisa Lampanelli is hilarious.

Worst roast ever. Lisa Lampanelli was great as usual though, but honestly, Comedy Central has turned roasts into B-List shows now, they used to be much much better.

Roasting Larry the Cable Guy? Come on. I thought roasting Bob Saget was about as B-List as it got, but this was even worse.

Who are they going to roast next, Carrot Top?

Ok yea, it's obvious, not much of a Larry the Cable guy fan, just generic humor for me.

Not a fan of his, but I respect almost all comedians in that I think they are among the most brilliant people. His (apparant) best bud, Lewis Black is my hero!!!

I knew it was an act as well. I thought I read that both of his parents were scientist-- Phd types.

I saw him on Leno last week. He almost slipped out of the accent just as they went to break.

I can't stand him. Sure he makes money, but I sure would be sick of playing that one character forever.

Larry was on Rick and Bubba's radio show several times before he was on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, and he was always funny.:rotfl2:
