yesterday I enrolled the girls in dance class. they've been dancing since they were toddlers. younger dd is taking tap, jazz and ballet, and a ballet workshop on saturdays. older dd is taking tap, jazz and ballet, but can't take the workshop because it conflicts with cheerleading. so I paid tuition for 7 classes and 6 costumes. our studio is a bit less expensive than some of the others around, but 7 classes...

there was another woman in the studio, enrolling her 4 year old in a creative combo class, one that requires both tap shoes and ballet slippers. she had a second child with her, an infant in a stroller.

when she saw what my bill was ...she almost fainted.

:teeth:

DD4 takes a ballet/tap combo class & an acrobatics class only $46. I dread when they start splitting up the tap & ballet into 2 classes. DD's dance didn't come close to DS TaeKwonDo - $80 a month - gald he got bored with that one::yes:: .

I am a cheap mom... my DDs do Girl SCouts, DD10 is in Karate and Soccer. Karate for her AND I is onle $50 a month for 3 classes a week. Soccer is $5.00 a season and Girl Scouts is $10 a year plus dues, but that isn't bad.

We tried the dance, but that didn't work out. Would love to do gymnastics, but that was WAY more than I could afford.

:faint:

I hear ya! DS 10 yrs. does Karate - he is a black belt and a junior trainer and it is 2,000 per year! He also does guitar lessons at 45 buck per week! What we do for our kids! I hope they appreciate this when they are older!:p

I WISH they would appreciate it NOW.

you should look into gymnastics at your local YMCA. Ours is really reasonable.

our school district has a gymnastics program for elementary and middle school students.

as for my bill -- I paid for 6 costumes, that alone was $400. but they're in the "company" which means they may actually wear the costumes more than once.

just curious, how old are your DDs?

My daughter is 4 and is enrolled in a tap/ballet combo class just like the lady who nearly fainted.

I know that many 10yo girls at the studio take 5-6 classes.

DD has been taking a "creative movement" pre ballet class since she was 2 and now is ready for tap also.

Thanks, Susan

older dd is a high school freshman, younger dd is in 7th grade.

the studio wanted me to sign the girls up for competition as well as regular classes, but they don't have time for the private lessons because they're active in other things at school.
