These cooktops in the studio would scare me from a safety standpoint. As pointed out above, the electric version would be a burn hazard, especially for kids but only them due to the close quarters. And the gas version—yikes. Again, close quarters with lots of combustibles nearby. I doubt they would be lawful in the studios due to rules about distance from flame to combustible materials. I don’t know if the electric version presents a general fire hazard as well but it’s certainly a concern to me.
All of that said, the
DVC buildings are probably not nearly the risk for widespread fire as an older building in London. From what I can tell, the Disney hotels are all steel framed and certainly have fire sprinkler systems so I would think a major fire spreading is unlikely. At least that’s what the management of the 80s skyscraper I work in (or once worked in) tell us.
Also, induction is expensive and only works for special pans so would not seem suitable for a mass product like DVC.
On top of all of this, I would think including these cooktops would add wear and tear, smells in the fabrics, etc.
Now, a washer dryer in the new VGF studios would be a game changer for sure and not present all of these issues, other than cost of course.
