I am a snowglobe fan... We bought a wedding Mickey & Minney on our honeymoon, and I plan to buy another one this trip... maybe not a wedding one, I'll save that for the 10th Anniversary trip... but I will get one of some kind... With the new "no liquids" rule I imagine having a bit of trouble getting even that on the plane... What do you think?... Would they make me throw out my new snowglobe?... I sure don't want to check it and have it broken on the plane ride home!... Probably best to ship it home?... Better to be safe than sorry... Just thought I'd mention it in case other snowglobe fans hadn't thought of it...

28 days to go!!!.... :woohoo:

There was already a long thread here about this the first day of the new "ban."

Many posters were unaware of how easy, inexpensive, and reliable the shipping of any item is from any store at Disney (you don't even have to pay SALES TAX on the item, if you ship it out of Florida).

There were posters who specifically said they shipped home snow globes.
They arrived in perfect condition.

That looks to be the way to go.

I would have Disney ship it. Good chance of breaking it with checkin and not allowed in carryon.

I would ship it. It use to cost $25 to ship and not pay the tax. That is with Fed ex delivery----always do this with my collectibles, do not want to have to worry about breaking these things

good luck

any purchase over $100 costs only $15.95 to ship home VIA UPS Ground, and can take 10-12 days to arrive. The packages are fully insured, so if it breaks in trasnit it will be replaced for you :)

Also if you want to ship a whole lot of things together (as it only costs $15.95 for any purchase from $100-$1000), take all your goodies you bought from Disney (and their receipts) to any Disney Resort Gift Ship or Downtown Disney and you can have them all shipped together at the end of your trip (but you will still pay for the sales tax with this method).

Those snowglobes are packed in enough styrofoam in the box. We've bought several at Disney World and put them in our checked baggage and never had a problem. If you want to ship it home, Disney does it very well. We had a sericell shipped home and was told it would take 10 days to get there. It arrived one day after we got home, which was five days later.

We always but so much stuff at WDW, that we have to ship it home :rotfl:.

The great thing about this is that most times the package is waiting for us at our doorstep as we are getting out of the limo. The price is inexpensive to ship and it is insured. last trip an item broke during shipping. I called WDW and they sent me a brand new one no charge! It is soooo worth it.

I shipped a snow globe home last october with no problem - it came about a week later. :thumbsup2
