I don't know where you are getting your information about "almost daily" firings on US and Allied aircraft because it is simply not true. Were US planes fired on? Definitely. "Almost Daily?" Nope. You are exaggerating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the number of times US planes were fired on since the end of the first Gulf war was about 700 times and never connected once. That's right, Saddam Hussein never downed an American plane.

Where do I get my information about this? I was on the staff of Commander, Cruiser/Destroyer Group 8, serving as Command and Control Watch Officer for the battle group. I was there, directing flight missions from the USS Eisenhower in support of Operation Southern Watch. I was directing Electronic Warfare birds, with the authority to take contol of any bird I needed to support C2W needs. We flew missions over Iraq in the Southern No-Fly zone round the clock. They never shot at any of those missions the entire time we were on station.

Impressive credentials, but surely you don't think those credentials stack up against the impressive credentials of the keyboard jockies and water-cooler commandos who love this president and think the war is the right thing to do............from a safe distance, of course.

So propagandizing the worst attack on US soil...sure, using inaccurate/shady intelligence to shift the direction of our noble efforts...absolutely, chemical weapons...OK, torture prisons...why not?, interrogating POWs to death...yeah, that's fine too.

I am listening to Fox News and I heard an "ad" come on. I didn't turn around to look. The message starts out (paraphrased). "The goal of Saddam was to kill all Kurds; he failed, "Thank you America, thank you, and then it has different voices of men, women, children in their native and English language saying thank you." I didn't see the image until the last part. That said, A thank you from "Kurdistan, the other Iraq". I was so touched that I have tears in my eyes. Its a reminder of why we went!

Are you guys kidding? There is this beautiful, poignant thank you from an entire ethnic group of people who saw thousands of their country men, women and children gassed by Saddam and they are sending a heartfelt Thank you to the United States and you are thinking about Geico and meatloaf???

They can only be happy by bashing someone else. It makes their life more meaningful. They live in a hopeless world of make believe. God bless this country, our military and our President. They will never appreciate what the military has done (and is currently doing) for this country or the world for that matter, unless they are in lockstep agreement with their view of the universe. They can only be happy by bashing someone who takes issue with their views. It makes their life somewhat meaningful. They live in a hopeless world of make believe. God bless this country, our military, and those who work to keep them safe. As for the authenticity of the commercial, it was developed and paid for by somebody, somewhere, who is sick and tired of people bashing President Bush. They now live in a safer world and a world that has a bright future, and it only has cost 3.5 Billion dollars and about 17,000 ruined or terminated American lives.
