I just saw Signs for the first time....

I thought Signs was very good. It was just creepy enough but not so scary that I couldn't sleep after watching it. I liked the ending -- made me cry but I am a wuss!

The cornfield scene was filmed at Delaware Valley College and the town scene was in Newtown. I watched the filming when they were in town but missed Mel by a day:( -- I did see the two kids and M. Night.

Me and my DS (12) loved it and DH thought it was just stupid. He really embarrassed me by yelling "That's IT" when the credits were rolling. I think for guys it's not enough action. I thought it was scary and funny, enjoyed it, but wouldn't rave about it.

Kallison, do you have a pantry??

Funny that this thread started when I was watching the movie. Anyway. I liked it well enough. The cornfield scenes were kind of scary. But, unlike most of you...I liked the end. Sure was pretty countryh tho.

Krisu -- yes we DO have a pantry! When we saw the movie and came out of the theaters it was a HUGE thunder and lightning storm. We had to drive by the cornfield where it was filmed and there is also a field next to our house. DS ran from the van into our house in about 2 seconds flat, up to his room and into bed with the covers over his head! It was just a real creepy, stormy, cloudy night when we got home, even I was a little freaked out driving home the sitter. We have to rewatch it on dVD, I'm giving it to DS for Valentine's Day.

I actually liked Signs but it did not hurt that Joaquin Phoenix was in it:) I also like those kind of movies to begin with

Funny....I just saw this for the first time last night!!! DH borrowed the projector from work, we rigged up a screen using our King-sized sheets, turned up the stereo sound and ENJOYED!!! I was startled just enough to enjoy it...the story was good, but as someone else mentioned, I expected there to be more of a twist with Night!!!

Does anyone else laugh uncontrollably when they're scared half to death?????

I laugh when I'm scared too. At the theater as soon as all the screams died down everyone laughed.

Hey, nkjzmom, I love your avatar btw.

Julie_yet....I sent you a PM about your pic.....:D

I too thought that it wasn't very scary. My DD loves it so much she spent her money to buy it.

Ever been in a cornfield like that when it is dark? When you are a kid with imagination on turbo?

I like how the movie didn't get in your face with the aliens, but used sound and glimpses to scare. Surround sound on the DVD is great.

The biped form was a cop out. It was done in CG, so could have been more strange. In all likelyhood, we would not recognize an alien life form as intellegent. I could look like a plant or slime or.....

Buz

I liked it...it wasn't near as scary as I thought it was gonna be but I saw it the day it came out in theatres...but I was still holding on to Eric for dear life...LOL!

I liked the movie and Mel:D ! Couldn't help but notice similarities between Signs and Oz and Signs and The Birds.:jester:

It scared the pants off of me!

But I scare easily, so don't take my word for it. :)

I loved it, especially the scene where the kids have the Foil Hats on their head.....than Joaquin had one too!:earseek: :teeth: I liked the ending, it seemed to put it all together.

I liked it better the second time around. I enjoyed picking up clues that I had missed and the tempo seemed faster.

I don't usually like scary movies, so this one was just right for me.

although surround sound DVD did rattle me a couple times - corn stalks were moving around me. I watched it too for the first time this weekend!

Actually, the flying objects over the cities made me think of the old War of the World black/white sci-fi movies that used to be on TV on the weekends when I was a kid...

My son's boy scout troop had part of their haunted house be a hallway lined with corn stalks - they recreated the feeling from the movie pretty well evidently with sounds and movement - that was said to be one of the creepier rooms of their haunted house this year. Signs was playing in the theaters at that time last fall....
