Great job and lots of hugs!
We were at a cookout when ds was 2 and I didn't notice that he grabbed a hotdog off a plate and took a bite. He was standing up and had his back to me and I noticed him starting to sway....something in my head just said he's choking on a hotdog (real common with kids) and I reached behind him and pulled and out it shot. I couldn't believe it worked, and more than that, I couldn't believe I somehow knew what was wrong and what to do. Still makes me shake!
Even if you all don't have training, just do it....
Since then I've taken an all day CPR and First Aid class, (They're usually offered free through your local fire department.) and when anyone acted hesitant, the instructors would say...
"What are the person's chances if you do nothing? 0, and What are the person's chances if you do something?...better than 0!"
Also something to keep in the back of your head, I knew someone who's brother choked at a cookout and fell into the pool. They thought he was just drowning and no one thought to do the Heimlich and he couldn't be revived.
