Way back in 1968,I remember actually being absorbed by the Olympics. I rushed in everyday from whatever activity and was glued to the set watching amazing people doing amazing feats! The athleticism was a marvel to behold. I was just a little kid, but I wanted to be one of those people.
There weren't many opportunities in those days for girls. Even when I got to be in track in Junior High, a girl could only be in a maximum of three events! And unfortunately, that was the sum total of all sports for girls. Nothing else, no soccer, no softball, no basketball, nohting else. Just three events in track.
As the Olympics rolled around every four years for next few decades, I would think, time passed me by. I can never be an athlete. But somewhere between now and the last Olympics, I became one. I AM AN ATHLETE!!! I am living my dream, after all these years, I am who I thought I could be.
Thanks to all my cheerleaders, coaches, and teammates, I am here and here is good. THank you Wish.
