I just opened my account, and would like to do so for my kids, but the Social Security angle has me worried. I figure mine is out there for all to see, and hopefully not, to steal and my DD's and DS's are not in very many places. If you have started one for your children and there is not the credit to do a check with, how does ING verify? Do they even want your child's social? Thanks in advance, as I know I will get help from my DIS friends!
Yes, they will ask for your kids' SSNs but they do NOT verify their account as they are joint with you. They will verify your account and then when you open your kids' it will be joint so no need for verifying their checking accounts...as they are the same as yours.
I wouldn't worry about it. When you open a bank account they need a SSN that's all. And you can only use each SSN once per account with the bonus.
I hope this helps!

Didn't think about that until just now.) Anyway, I've not actually verified my account yet as the test deposits to my checking won't show up until tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. I just started wondering . . . am I going to have difficulty distinguishing between DH's test deposits and mine? We both linked our INGs to the same checking account. . . how will we know which deposits belong to his ING and which belong to mine?
I was really surprised. It also showed my pending deposit for the money I initially used to set up the account and the pending deposit for the small amount I am going to transfer in twice a month.
Great for you!!
