I just opened my account, and would like to do so for my kids, but the Social Security angle has me worried. I figure mine is out there for all to see, and hopefully not, to steal and my DD's and DS's are not in very many places. If you have started one for your children and there is not the credit to do a check with, how does ING verify? Do they even want your child's social? Thanks in advance, as I know I will get help from my DIS friends!

Yes, they will ask for your kids' SSNs but they do NOT verify their account as they are joint with you. They will verify your account and then when you open your kids' it will be joint so no need for verifying their checking accounts...as they are the same as yours.

I wouldn't worry about it. When you open a bank account they need a SSN that's all. And you can only use each SSN once per account with the bonus.

I hope this helps!

I opened my ING account and referred my spouse and children 2 days ago but still no emails inviting them to participate. How long do I have to wait?

You need to resend the email referral they send them out right away If you do not see it right away check your junk bulk mailbox These referrals look like spam mail if you do not read carefully the subject says something like a way to make money

Someone sent me a referral and it sent in my spam box for 4 days before they even notified me I had suspicious mail, so mompoppins is right, you may want to see if you have something like that.

I have only had two people ask for ref. but I got two different emails yesterday saying they both had opened their accounts!!I doubt I will get anymore but $20.00 extra is better than nothing!!!

I want to jump on board, but have a question:
I open an account, I get 25, I refer my husband, he gets 25 and I get 10, I refer my DS (age 7) and my DS (age 12), and me as the joint holder. Do I get 20 more referral money and they get 25 each? Would my total be = 130?
Let me know, cause if that is the case, I want to do this. That is free money!
Thank you all very much.

Also, how many days prior do you get your money out before your trip? Five? And has anyone had problems getting it in time?

You are correct! $130 for a family of 4!

It can take up to 7 days but normally it's about 2 days to get the money..you must also take into count weekends.

They add the bonus to your account pretty quick, one of my referrals just signed up 2 days ago and the $10 was already added to my account today!

Does anyone know when the referrals will be expired? I also read somewhere about August, but was wondering about what others have read?

Can I assume that all activity happens on the weekdays? If I signed up this weekend and referred DH and he has already signed up, I should see my $10.00 bonus from him and my $25.00 maybe one day next week?

It is times like this I wish I had more family members, if you know what I mean, but then again, maybe not. ;)

Yes, I believe that is true. Activity happens on the weekdays...you could see it tomorrow.

I dont know Mom Poppins....I am going to the site now to see if I can find it. I am pretty sure it is sometime in August but I hope they extend it. If I find out anything I will post it here.

I don't think that the referral program is going anywhere anytime soon.

I think where we get confused is in the e-mail that they send out with the referrals, that the referral will expire a month from the date sent. So if I sent a referral today, it would expire August 25th. (or 24th or 23rd would be 30 days???)

Of course I could be wrong about this...

That is what I think too.

I remember a couple months ago, maybe March or April the same question was being asked and people were wondering if the referral program was going to end in April...I think back then they got the idea from the referral email with the April date in it....

That could be it then...I went to the site and could not find anything about it. I hope it is not ending. It would prob take me forever to get my ref. filled up!!!

I signed up for my account today, and I was able to refer DH and he signed up right away too. (Hope we don't have problems receiving our bonuses due to signing up on the same day. Didn't think about that until just now.) Anyway, I've not actually verified my account yet as the test deposits to my checking won't show up until tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. I just started wondering . . . am I going to have difficulty distinguishing between DH's test deposits and mine? We both linked our INGs to the same checking account. . . how will we know which deposits belong to his ING and which belong to mine?

Actually, I just got an answer to my own question. I opened my account yesterday and referred hubby, and he opened his yesterday. When I looked at my ING account just a few minutes ago, there was a $35.00 balance. :teeth: I was really surprised. It also showed my pending deposit for the money I initially used to set up the account and the pending deposit for the small amount I am going to transfer in twice a month.

I really didn't expect to see these transactions until next week, what a pleasant surprise. This really does work.

:Pinkbounc Great for you!!

fyi...I do believe though that sometimes the weekend does affect transfers like my automatic transfer is scheduled for the 15th of each month but if it falls on the weekend, then they make the date for the Monday following the weekend.

And when I transferred money out of ING, I think the weekend made it take a bit longer.

You are probably correct in all that. I still am surprised I had any money showing up at all. I just went in to do a referral and saw there was a balance and just about fell out of my chair.
