and since nobody besides my mother knows anything about what I am going to talk about, I can't talk to my family besides my DH.

My mother called this afternoon to say that a cousin of mine ahd hung himself. he was argueing with his wife outside or something and ran into the house, into the attic and locked the door. This man has had a lot of problems in the past, mostly stemming from his ex-wife. His father recently died after being in the hospital for an infection after surgery plus other complications.

It seems that while his wife was trying to get in the attic, he drank a gallon or so of bleach and hung himself. She finally got in and was calling 911 while trying to hold him up. She is about 5'4" and he is over 6' tall. One of her son's saw him up there (I think he is 12 or so) and when police got there, they got him down and managed to get a pulse for the drive to the hospital. A local hospital verfied spinal damage and sent him to Boston. In Boston they discovered bleach in his stomach and lungs and severe spinal damage.

He has 3 kids under 18, I think the youngest is 10 and his wife had 4 kids all under 16.

his mother is with him along with other family but I don't know whether I should pray for him to live or to let him go since if he lives, he will be so badly off it may be worse. Obviously to be able to do what he did so quickly he must have been planning and thinking about it for a long time. It will kill his mother though, and his wife. This will be my 3rd funeral in a year and my husbands 4th funeral and 5th friend/families death.

Please pray for his family to find peace in whatever happens. And pray that his step-son is not scarred for life by what he saw.

How horrible. I'm sorry that you guys have to go through this.

When I have no idea what or how to pray for a situation I fall back on allowing God to be in charge....the "your will be done" is always good for me in those situations.

It does sound like he had suicidal thoughts before this happened. Otherwise why would have have bleach and the (?)rope right there in the attic?

prayers said for you and your family :grouphug:
I can't imagine what you all are going through right now :guilty:

I'm sorry. I really don't even know what to say.

It sounds like if he makes it, he will have permanent injuries, but at least he could see his kids grow up, get married, have grandkids, etc. I hope that the whole family gets counseling, whether he makes it or not. Life can get tough, but a selfish move such as suicide is not the answer. I hope that the family will pursue some counseling especially for the son who witnessed it, and that one day life will always be valued and sacred to the father.

Hoping the best!

Yes, a prayer for peace. I'm so sorry for what you are going through.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry.
What a horrible story.
I will pray for all involved!

Saying a prayer that he will find peace but more importantly that your family will eventually find peace. My father commited suicide so although I don't know how your family, personally, is feeling, I do know how hard it is :sad1:

That is just terrible. I'm with the poster who said "let His will be done" in a case like this.

I honestly don't know what to say except I am so sorry and will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

:grouphug:

Send your life-giving Spirit
upon those who despair of living,
O generous and loving God.
If it is your will,
let them find rest from their labors
that they may have peace.
If there is a call they have not heard,
open their eyes and ears to know it
that they may find the joy of abundant life.
Grant them your blessing this day
and every day.
Amen.

How awful!

What kind of damage does drinking bleach do? And how would they get it out or dilute it? How awful for the family....

Wow, I don't know what to say. I hope for the best outcome for him and your family. You'll all be in my prayers.
