 I have just got to post after reading all the negatives about DVC. We have been members since 1994 and have never been treated badly. We have had a few problems with our villa but never anything that couldn't be lived with. Most of the time they fixed it very quickly. I have stayed at several Marriott's that were exchanges. I have had as many if not more problems with them. We didn't have hot water for several days and didn't get moved either. There will always be unforseen problems with any resort. I hate that many have had poor CM's but they are always nice to us. I truly believe it is the way you approach them with a problem. We try very hard not to be ugly to them and they inturn are not ugly to us. I am not saying that anyone was ugly but some may have appeared that way. I just love going and having the
"WELCOME HOME". Our home has problems sometimes, too. We need to try and let new members know that DVC is not all bad. I hate to see someone say they are going to sell after a bad trip. DVC is what you make of it. We plan to make it a family get away that we will always love and remember. The memories can last a life time. Sorry if I am on my soap box, but I hate to hear all the negatives on the board. Let's try and post some postives more often. I will after we get back in May. I know I will have many! :cool1:

I agree. As far as reports that CM's are rude...there are always two sides to everystory.

I find in general people do not post after a great stay, only after a bad one. But I want to disagree with the amount of negative posts, the feeling I get is that 95% of owners love the DVC program. The only problem is that Disney sets very high expectations and sometimes it has a hard time living up to that. Try reading some of the posts over at tripadvisior.com if you want to read some really misguided complaining! After reading those these boards are a veritable love fest!

I have never had a bad experience at a Disney Resort. Sure, perhaps some little things may have gone wrong, but I do not let them bother me. After-all I am on vacation :cool1:

One thing to realize is that some people create their own problems. I remember being in the BWI concierge lounge when a recently arrived guest tore a strip off the concierge staff because they did not get the exact room they requested (you could here her throughout the whole lounge and down the hall). This guest and her family ended up monopolizing the concierge staff for a few hours until arrangements could be made. . This person was probably on the resort board the next day talking about the crummy service at the BWI.

I do not mean to say that legitimate complaints do not happen, they do. And in most cases they are resolved to the guests satisfaction. But when you read some posts it really makes you think that the guest may be the problem.
(I asked for room 3526 and got 3528 and it ruined my whole trip as my preferred view of the pool was off by 5 degrees and it was an extra 10 steps to the bus. Disney is going downhill and I think I will sue for the trauma - DO NOT BUY DVC) .

Merilyn: Although I don't do a lot of posting, I also have been a member for a long time (93) and I agree with you and the other posts. I agree we all have a high expectation of DVC and we have been going at least twice a year since 93 and have also had little problems here and there that were resolved immediately so IMHO they have maintained that high expectation and standard. The one time we did have a major problem, I wrote when we returned home and received what I felt was a prompt reply and the problem was resolved. I definitely agree with Stitch 03 about people seem to be over the top about the requests. Like everyone else, I'm not pointing fingers, but I don't think people need to be unreasonable. Obviously, if there's a true medical reason for something, that's altogether different. I also agree about the way that you approach people and that there is two sides to every story. My DH and I try to live by the motto that you treat people the way you would like to be treated. These CMs deserve the same respect that they give to us. If there is a CM who is less than respectful and out of line, then report it. Management can't know unless we tell them. On the other hand, they should not have to take verbal abuse because someone arrives at 9 a.m. and thinks they should get in their room or that they didn't get the room they requested. READ YOUR RULES. I have seen people act like the CM is the gum on their shoe, and this is so out of line. They may think that they are superior to the CM because the CM is a worker and they are a guest, but as far as I'm concerned, their conduct shows that they have no breeding or class regardless of their income. We taught our children (now grown and married adults with children) that they treat all people with respect regardless of their job or income. Again, this is directed to those who I feel are the minority of DVC owners not the majority. If they don't like DVC, then sell and go some place else. We won't miss you, nor will the CMs.

I agree. We have never had a bad experience since joining and using DVC, including non-Disney resorts in the concierge collection. DW and I are going to the world about twice a year now, I don't think that would be possible for us without DVC. Our membership and experiences have certainly exceeded our expectations.

We have never had a bad experience either. The one time we had problems with unruly teens next door, dh was very impressed as how quick the problem was resolved. I agree you will have unforseen problems with any vacation/resort. We have had a few with non DVC motels we have stayed in.

1) I have never had a perfect stay at DVC
2) I have never had a bad stay at DVC.
3) There are always some minor things that crop-up.
4) We go with the flow and don't let them bother us.
5) Our opinion is that DVC was still a good choice for vacations.

We have not yet had a single issue at WDW other than getting a handicap room @ VWL when we needed a non HC room for our daughter to have her baths she was only 8 months old at the time so we needed to have a tub. I went down to the desk and the room was changed right then and there and they appologized profusely for the mix up. It really wasn't a big deal they dealt with it ina very timely manner and all was well.

Lets face it, there are lots of reasons for people to be upset when they are traveling. Some can be perfectly legitimate, some completely overblown, and others somewhere in between. I think the bigger issue is how we deal with problems, real or otherwise. The old adage of catching more flies with honey than with vinegar certainly applies to any situation where you are dealing with other people. In most cases this approach works best but every so often, every once in a while, you just have to be more assertive.

With all of that said, lets face it gang, it's unreasonable to expect there won't be some problems sometimes. Fortunately I can say that we've never had what we consider to be a major problem at DVC or any other WDW resort. We have high expectations for our WDW visits and it appears that everyone else does as well. That speaks highly for the Disney organization and how they conduct themselves when they interact with their guests.

Regarding the negative posts, I don't pay much attention to them as I see them as a good way to blow off steam.
