I just had a cable modem installed!

A firewall, either software (I use Zone Alarm Pro from http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp ) or a hardware router, is needed.

We also have a router. We love how fast the cable modem is and that if the 3 of us want to be on the computers at the same time we can be. LOVE IT!

we just switched from dial up (aol) to cable, and don't get many pop ups and LOVE the speed! Should have done it a long time ago!

We have had cable for about 4 years now and have had Zone alarm installed almost from the very beginnning. I love the speed of cable, but last month we received a notice from Comcast (they bought out AT&T) that our rates would be increasing by $15 per month!!!! My dh and I are so angry with them right now we are ready to cancel.

Comcast did include a notice stating that we could lower our rates if we signed up for their television cable service. We have a satellite dish and have no desire to switch that to cable. At this point we're not sure if we are actually going to cancel, although the liklihood is very good.

Anyway, I'm positive you'll love your cable speed; I just hope the prices don't get you down.
