I Just Got Spam By A Dis Member. But Lava Boy Saves the Day

What a pathetic person he is. This "person" was on my friends list but after the ordeal with the flips I deleted him. I was approached by not one but 2 vmk players that were scammed by him on vmk and furious! Unfortunately I believe I deleted the screen shot of this conversation and also the conversation I had with me telling him what is happening to his reputation. Naturally he had excuses.

I just wonder how staff feels now after they awarded this con with his own special gift.

As they say, and the rich get richer......unfortunately its at the cost of innocent ppl.

Time to stop making excuses for ppl like him.

All I can say is Wow! Unbelievable that someone on the Dis would think they could get away with this. I am so sorry Jeffcat that you lost your things in this trade. I remember how i was shaking when i traded for my sparrow. I remeber thinking i could lose all of this stuff if the person holding sparrow was to just vanish. My trade worked out but i can only imagine how it must have felt when that person vanished and you lost your things.

Based on what y'all said, I'm fairly positive I know who this is. How shameful and despicable. After his own supposed being-scammed incident, you'd think he'd have some level of a conscience not to do it to anyone else. But then again, why am I ever surprised anymore. I had my suspicions about this person for awhile now, and I'm so sad anyone had to suffer from his lapparent lack of values.

I sincerely wish VMK would just put Inferno, flips, Stitch, ALL of it on sale for a good chunk of credits so some of this madness would stop. A game about Disney magic is increasingly set up to inherently promote greed, envy, and jealousy. Said player is a great example of that, apparently.

I know there are several other ppl that claim they were cheated out of their inferno and stitch by this person, he use to be on my friend list so everytime I heard these claims I'd give him an ear full but of course it was always him who was the one scammed. And I know this person claims to have Host lily on his friend list. I don't get how this is being over looked by staff. But if you think about who is to blame? The players dont make things rare, vmk does. Greed drives ppl. I think they should release everything and stop this trading frenzie. Because if you think he is the only one, your very wrong.

I am so sorry this happened to you. It's so sad that there are so many dishonest people in the game and in real life. If anyone could let me in on who this is, I'd appreciate it. So far I have only come across great DISers when I've traded. It's too bad there is one bad apple in the group but I feel that most of us are good honest players.

You have to hit accept multiple times for a trade to go through. How people get things stolen from them, I just am completely missing.

Was it a 2 window trade? That's the only thing I can figure out.

I so agree with this. I only have a few rare items and of course I would like Inferno but, I always felt that at some point I would work my way up to getting it. But I have this habit of giving things away, I get such a kick out of it. I sincerely hope VMK does something about this trend that is starting to happen more often.

There is something to do about all these scams! Nobody can "steal" your stuff without your participation.

1) Only do trades that can be completed in one transaction.
2) Do not lend anything to anybody that you would be sad to lose.
3) Take your time and confirm each time all the items in the trade.

Very good advice, especially number 1. People take multiple-window trades way too much for granted.

And don't ever assume that somebody you don't know is safe to trust with this kind of trade, even if they actually do have "CL" in front of their name.

Yes that would be great if the value of some items was not more than one trade window will allow.

I have to say we have only ourselves to thank for that. If we had all scoffed at the idea of "mega trades" way back in the beginning, and refused to trade everything we own for one item, then trading values might not be so out of control now.

I agree. Buyable items (even when they are expensive like bat magic) don't seem to draw as many problems.

As much as I don't like the "exclusive" aspect of VMK's economy, they cannot be completely to blame. Unfortunately, as long as players are willing to part with bucket loads of their items to get something rare, this is going to keep happening.

Yes, it was more than one window full. In cases like this, the trader of the single "valuable" item usually isn't willing to put it in the first trade window, in case the other person runs off with it without giving them the rest of their items. But that in turn makes it possible for them to disappear before the final trade window, without handing the rare item over.

People are in the habit of calling this "stealing", especially since we can't say "scam" in VMK.

The brat performed the trade as a guest with the OP. Then left the room and traded the hat to his account. Therefore the "guest" has no hat. Reporting the guest is futile, because no hat in inventory. Therefore cannot be caught - even though VMK should be able to identify the IP of the Guest account and the Thief to confirm it is the same person or household. In addition, they should be able to identify trade logs of the guest and to whom they traded from and to. Just my two cents.

I don't even believe the alleged scamming incident that had arisen a couple of weeks ago even happened. I had two brief conversations with the Hosts depicted in the DIS member's post that either said or implied that no scam or assistance from staff took place.
