I have applied for a disney store job, and I just got called for an interview. Now heres the thing. This is basically my first job interview. Can anyone help me with pointers? Does anyone work for the disney store??

A month or so ago, Mouseplanet had a series of articles on working for the mouse. They interviewed people who had been through disney job interviews.

I worked for the Disney Store about 4 years ago and the number one thing I would suggest is that you not take the job "for the money". Sure it's fine to say you're looking for "supplemental income" I'm not suggesting you lie or anything but really they wanted people who were looking to be part of the team. People who had a vested love/interest in Disney and want to be part of that family.

Standard Interview Questions for any job might be:

Why do you want to work here?

What skills do you bring to this position?

What is an area that you could use improvement in? // What are some of your weaknesses?

For your interview I would suggest a "professional" look. This is always appropriate for an interview even for a casual position. A suit, or nice dress pants/top etc. But if you have any Disney accessories (small Mickey earrings, a watch, etc) that's a way to subtly let your love for the mouse show.

If you can show that you fit the Disney "look". neatly combed hair, natural make-up, no visible tattoos, etc that will help as well.

Smile! That's important, try to relax and I'm sure you'll do fine.

There are a lot of things to remember, but relax. Be outgoing and personable. Make sure you have a clean cut respectable look about you. Lean forward slightly and make eye contact. Bring any personal information such as references and a schedule of when you will be able to work. Be open to answer any questions such as "why do you want to work at Disney?" and "What will your personality bring to the Disney Store?" Good luck with everything. I have been working at my Disney Store for the past month and I never had any previous retail experience, but you have to learn fast, pay attention to detail, be outgoing, be friendly, move with a purpose, have fun, and smile! :teeth:

Congratulations!
I worked at the Disney Store last year from September until May of this year and also did the Disneyworld College program back in 94. I agree with everything that JC Butterfly and WDWprincessloyola said. Be outgoing, personable, make eye contact and be well groomed. I was very stressed for my interview last year and the questions were similar to what JC Butterfly said. They will want to know why they should hire you. And as long as you don't have a problem selling your strong points you should be fine!
The job is fun but during the holidays be prepared to work every shift you have availability for. I believe you still have to be available at least 3 days? Its easy to learn and just remember to smile smile smile!!!!
The pay isn't great but you basically work for the discount anyway.
Good Luck!!!!
