I just found out that my friend broke his neck!

The first thing I heard when I woke up this morning is that an old friend of mine was in some kind of accident and has a broken neck because of it. I just got off the phone with his mom. He's got broken ribs, a broken collarbone and several vertebrae in his neck are broken as well as severe cartilage damage. Right now they're setting him set up in ICU. I was afraid to ask how it happened because I didn't want to upset her even more. All I keep thinking is he loves cars, he drives fast and he owns a motorbike. I'm just sick with the thought of it.

I just got an update. I was right, he was in a motorcycle accident. He was going too fast around a curve and he lost control and hit a guardrail. His helmet came off and he hit the back of his head so he has short-term memory loss. He doesn't remember the accident. The good news is he can still move his arms and legs. That's what I was really worried about.

He is one lucky guy to have made it alive after a wreck like that! It is encouraging that he can move his extremeties. I hope he will make a full recovery. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank God that he isn't paralyzed. It sounds like he will make a full recovery. That's a blessing considering the possibilities.
