I *love* the idea of the belly dancer(s?). The food is neither appealing or unappealing, but I like the idea of something different. Every time I decide to give it a try, though, I hear something *really* awful.

What should I do? I'd like to give it a try only because it's so completely different than anything we have outside the World, but I don't want to have bad service or a truly terrible meal.

Thoughts?

We ate here earlier this month and loved it! The beef kebab was so yummy and so was the lemon chicken. I got the appetizer sampler, but I was the only one brave enough to try the cinnamon-sugared up meat dumplings, but I thought they were delicious.

We'd definitely eat there again.

Its one of our favorite places and you can always get a table. The food is pretty good - not excellent, but good. We really like it just because its more unique than many other places around the World for the price, and includes some entertainment that keeps the kids attention for a bit. Never had a problem with service there.

I can't think of any reason not to try it at least once.

You should definitely try it! I don't know if it is still this way, but all the previous times we have eaten there it has been the only restaurant outside of Morocco to win the official stamp of approval from the king of Morocco. The food is good, not too exotic and very tasty. The entertainment is excellent! It is a great place to eat - we love it! :worship:

I would go for it. We just ate there and it was my first time. We had one of the "feasts" because it was on our dining plan. We got to try a little of everything. The belly dancer only comes out every so often and her performance is short. I think I had seen her outside earlier in the day performing with mo' rockin. I'm not sure if we would eat there again, but I'm glad we tried it.

DH and I thoroughly enjoyed it last trip and have marked it to go again in January even though we have a short trip! Give it a try :thumbsup2

I sound like the odd one out here, but I thought Marrakesh was the absolute worst food we ate our whole trip! Now keep in mind...we LOVE Moroccan food because it's so flavourful...this stuff was soooo bland and the service was horrible (but of course that's a YMMV kinda thing). Lemon chicken with olives is one of my all time favorite dishes...the one there was really tasteless. Some people like it though, so really it is a matter of taste :confused3

It's true -- if you have access to authentic Moroccan food you'll probably be disappointed (but I'd say that of ANY of the World Showplace restaurants -- they are not the real deal but are designed to appeal to a mass audience).

However, we did enjoy our meals here. We found the beef kabobs and the lamb shank to be quite wonderful, and the lemon chicken fine but very middle of the road in terms of flavor (good, but not special).

At any WS restaurant, I highly recommend making an attempt to engage your CM. Of course it depends on how busy it is, what kind of day the person is having, etc., but we've found that a little conversation and an indication on your part that you are genuinely interested in the cuisine and culture (and aren't just out to have as "american" a meal as you can) go a LONG way and can help you end up with a much more interesting meal and experience. I talked to our CM about how much I like lamb, and what he thought about their rendition, and what wine he recommended with it -- and had not only a terrific meal but also a lovely experience.

The belly dancer is fun, but the musicians who play traditional music before she comes out are also really wonderful.

Give it a try!

If it's something you want to do, then do it. Don't depend on what anyone else thinks. Everyone has different likes and dislikes.
For every restaurant at Disney you will find both good and bad reviews.

I was like your for years I thought I'd give it a try and then decide not too. Well several trips ago I realized it was the only WS restaurant we hadn't tried so we went and were surprised at how much we all liked it!!! We had nice service, good food and the entertainment was unique with the music and the belly dancer! Give it a try, we were so glad we did!!

Okay...I have been tossing this one around in my head for the past week for our December trip and I think you all have talked me into giving it a shot.

Thanks!!:thumbsup2

I would say give it a try, and see for yourself. We went once a few years ago, and did not like it. It was because I did not like the food very much and service was pretty bad. But, that was only one time, and it could just have been an off night. My rule of thumb is, if there is some place I want to go, or am on the fence of trying out, I give it a shot and decide for myself. There have been a few places that I have tried out and did not think that I would like them based on reviews, but ended up having a wonderful dining experience. If you end up not liking it, then you do not have to go back. By the way, I did like the atmosphere there and the belly dancer.
