...cancel our reservations at the YC! We have reservations at both the Swan and the YC for the end of June. I've read everything on these boards I can about the Swan (we have stayed at BC before so I'm familiar BC/YC) and most people are very positive about it. I think I have myself convinced to stay at the Swan (we would save about $400), but then I can't actually picture myself cancelling the YC. I'm driving myself crazy (not to mention my DH and DS). They just say "Let us know what you decide before we get there!"

There must be others out there like me. You want to take a chance on something, but yet you know what you like and you're afraid to give it up. On the one hand, it's only one trip - what's the worst than can happen - I don't like the Swan and never go back? On the other hand, this is my big vacation for the year, I've worked hard and I want it to be GREAT! The resort is the most important part of the trip for me.

Oh well, I might as well just cancel the Swan and get it over with. I'm pretty sure I won't cancel the YC!!

Still fun decisions to make even if they are tough. I'm lucky that I really enjoy staying on the cheapest property at disney LOL. Hmmm what would I do with an extra $400, I shudder to think:rolleyes: Have fun.......hey, have you thought of splitting your stay??

Sounds like you already made your decision. But how about splitting your stay? Do the Swan first and then finish your vacation at your favorite resort.

All I can say is that we just spent 2 nights at the Swan (first time in a non-Disney owned property), and I cannot wait to go back!! We are DVC members, so you'd think that I'd be most excited about staying at the BWV in Oct. Nope! I'm most excited at the prospect of spending 2 more weekend nights at the Swan;) The bed was indeed Heavenly, and I just love the pool area. I like the Grotto pool way better than SAB...it never felt as crowded as SAB did. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either the YC or the Swan, but I'd vote for saving that $400 and trying the Swan...then you have $400 extra to spend on dinners at the Yachtman's Steakhouse and Shula's, LOL!!

Like chrissyk, we just returned from our first stay at the Swan and can't stop raving about how terrific it was. I don't know how to post a link, but I think if you look through the first few resort pages, you might find my post "Wow! I'm a Swan Convert!" We've stayed at the YC and loved it, but I don't think you'd be disappointed with the Swan. I can't stop thinking about that bed!!

Now I'm more confused than ever LOL! My husband would vote for saving the $400. I'm just a little worried about the room. I'm afraid it's going to be small and I'm a little worried about conventions. I work with lawyers and I certainly don't want to feel like I'm surrounded by business people. I want to feel like I'm on vacation and I want a nice room. I wish I could reserve a suite at the Swan, but a suite is just a little too much $$.

Thanks for all your replies. It sounds like I really can't make a bad decision.

We stayed at the Dolphin last year. It was very nice, but it just didn't have enough of that Disney feel. They didn't have Disney soaps in the bathrooms, for instance! No Mickey wake-up calls, either. If you really want that Disney experience you'd better stay put.

Despite the fact that I am one of the number #1 Swan groupies, I will give the following opinion.

You did not mention just how much you were paying at either YC or Swan. I would look at it in the manner that: Is this one of those 7 day 'wow' deals from Disney? Is it where you won't be able to get a deal as great as this again at the YC? If that is your situation, do YC this year and save Swan for another trip. Swan offers more discounts and more often.

If there is nothing great about your rates at YC, then go for the Swan & use the $400 for something really special.

We are staying at the Swan next summer again (see that awful counter below), however, if I could fund a trip this summer I would have booked one of those 7 day specials at the GF. It would be my only opportunity to do so as I am sure I will never get a price that great at the GF again! However, that college kid kind of warps your budget.................

PS, I classify the rooms as 'normal' hotel room size. Although I think they were slightly larger than my room at the Hyatt in Chicago last month. I have no idea on YC size. Swan is nice as most (?all) of the rooms have a Hollywood bath with a 2nd sink outside of the bathroom. Also 2nd phone in bathroom if someone wants to talk in private.

I never felt 'convention' overrun around there although I did see more of that type of traffic in the Dolphin lobby. We ran into some of them because we used the exit by the convention facilities to get to the parking lot. Otherwise, every once in a while in the elevators.

FYI -- I booked the YC with a code - we are paying $329 per night (including tax) for a waterview room. The Fairy Tale Package doesn't start until after we return home. The rate I have at the Swan is $229 per night (including tax) for a balcony resort view room. We are staying four nights at WDW and then heading to Portofino Bay at Universal.

I like to put decisions like this in perspective. Do I stay at the fabulous Yacht Club or the lovely Swan? Don't you wish all of life's decisions were this hard???

Thanks for your thoughts!

We just came back from 3 nights at the Swan & did not enjoy our stay. The first leg of our trip was AKL which blew us away! The animals, CM's, Everything was great. At the Swan we felt the staff were Disney rejects, (with the except of CL Mama T & Thabo), & also felt like we were at a convention hotel.

The room & pools however were very nice, as were the restaurants.

We will not be going back again, because we didn't see the magic.
