...I'm so sad, so adrift now. I just don't know what to do or where to turn...I can hardly type the words...

...my :sad1: *snif* :sad1: favorite hair dryer DIED :faint: this morning! I was in the middle of drying my hair, and it just...just...STOPED. I didn't even know it was sick!

It was the perfect size! Big enough to use every day, small enough to travel with me (oh, it will never be able to go to Disney ever again!), powerful enough to dry my very thick, long hair! I even liked the color!

Oh, what should I do? I need to replace it, but where will I find another that I'll love so well? Will the new one measure up, or am I doomed to forever compare the new one with my lost love?

Oh, my. Such shocking news. Here I am going about my day, checking in on the DIS, and this bombshell is dropped on me. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember when my hair dryer died. It was quite sudden, just like like yours. A pop, a burning smell, and that was that. It was such a beautiful hair dryer, felt just right in my hand, you know what I mean.

It was white with a raspberry blow setting and a bright blue heat setting.

After searching the aisles of Rite-Aid and K-Mart, I found a new one. I thought it was silver and pink, judging by the box, but it turned out to be very ugly and the handle is a little too big.

You can't EVER really replace something that close to your heart, I guess. All you can really find is a substitute.

Give it some time, and know that we DISers are thinking of you.

Will there be a service? Where do we send pixie dust?

Sending you pixiedust: pixiedust:

May I recommend a search on Google, there are plenty of places that sell salon equipment to the public. With your long/thick hair maybe a salon strength hairdryer would work well.

It requested in it's will for there not to be a service, it'd rather be remembered as it was in life, hot and full of electricity.

In leu of flowers, please send donations to the Friends of Orphaned Small Appliances, PO Box 351 Cuisinart Way, New York NY 01203.

It was survived by a curling iron and a small hot roller set.

Sorry for your loss....

I have a curling iron that I love so much (that's no longer sold by clairol) that I bought an extra one that lives under the sink in it's box just in case something happens to the one I use.

i am so sorry for your loss!!!
i am afraid i too, will be losing my dear, dear hairdryer soon. it is in critical care, and must be handled carefully for only short periods of time, as it tires so easily now, and rests every few minutes by shutting down. i feel like it is time to let it go and put it down, but it is so hard to do that, when it has been so loyal to me. and how will a new one ever compare?!!?

my deepest sympathy on your loss..........

My donation is on the way.

If it's any comfort, it sounds like he had a long and full life and left this world exactly how he would have wished, doing what he had loved all those years...

I will be putting a black ribbon on my drier in rememberance of a lost comrade.

Try Sally's Beauty Supply for a new friend.
