I just burnt my microwave popcorn at work.....

One of my coworkers did this. The bag ignited and was burning in the microwave. Smoke poured out and the whole office stunk. I can't believe the alarms did not go off. We opened all the windows, set up fans etc. but the smell would not go away. We inhaled so much smoke I felt like I smoked a pack of cigarettes. I feel for you, we wanted to banish this woman from the office! She kept walking around all day sheepishly saying, "I'm sooooorrrrrryy." :rotfl:

popcorn:: popcorn::

I'll have to make sure my daughter is quite aware before she goes off to college this fall. Can't imagine burning the popcorn in a small dorm room. (They will have a microwave.) BLECH! :sad2:

OMG! You must work with me! I was this woman two weeks ago. SOOOOOOOO embarassing and so FUNKY! The smell lingered in our office for about 3 days, but the stigma of being "her" lasted about a week. The smoke wasn't too bad but it was visible...but the smell was RANCID!!! :faint:

Until I read this thread, I had forgotten all about it. :rolleyes1 But to see if the rest of my office was afflicted with the same selective amnesia, I just yelled from my desk that I felt like eating popcorn. popcorn:: The loud, resounding "NO!" from the collective office tells me that their memories are intact. The fact that they are all talking to me tells me that they understand that mistakes happen and that even this pretty bad one doesn't make me the office idiot....RIGHT?!?! :confused: :rotfl2:

:sad2: We get a few BAD popcorn makers but the worse was some guy who melted out the entire microwave overnight by setting his dinner for 60 MINUTES!! He said he FORGOT ABOUT IT! :headache:

I came in at 8:30am and the smell slapped you at the elevator. The offices are across the hall and they had a fan blowing it over to our offices!!! Ugh!!

Well, that beats my story. I worked with someone who was cooking popcorn and he set the timer for 24:00 instead of 2:40, and then LEFT. Why? Why can't you stand in front of a microwave for two minutes and forty seconds and wait for your dang popcorn?:headache:

Has already happened...:rotfl2:

Whats worse...this office has smelled like dirty feet all day...now it smells like burnt smelly feet...:laughing:

Ok you know my feeling on feet. haha I would rather smell burnt popcorn than smelly feet any day!!

I never, ever leave the microwave when I pop popcorn. I'm always careful and watchful so I don't burn it and still I have scorched it a time or two. Nothing horribly bad, but it still left a bid of a smell in the office for a short time. Sometimes, it just happens no matter how careful you are. :confused3
