Im so excited and wanted to share that I bought my first mobility scooter! I was so nervous buying it, I had done a lot of research and visited several local dealers and I had also read some older threads here from folks who had purchased and what their advice was, but was still feeling unsure but once I had made the purchase I was really happy!
We are going to Disneyland this weekend and can't wait to try it out! We are also going to Hawaii and staying at Aulani for the first time next month and I've been worried about getting around that big resort, the airport, etc. Now I can just be excited to go. So thank you to the DISability board...you guys have been a big help! And if anyone has any advice or suggestions on being a scooter owner, I'd love to hear it!

Congratulations! I know you will be happy with it. I have a Go-Go Sport and it has definitely paid for itself versus renting scooters. The only maintenance we have had to do is replacing the batteries after about 4 years of Disney trips.

A suggestion: I like to stick a length of 2” painters tape to the tiller. When I remove my key and before I give my scooter to the airlines at the gate, I pull off the tape and stick it across where the key goes. That way, if it rains while they load/unload my scooter at either airport, the key hole and thus the electronics are covered.

Love my GoGo scooter and hope you enjoy yours! Now you need to go by the Dollar store and get some decorations for the basket!
Thank you! Yes, I definitely want to decorate and personalize it. Maybe some fairy lights. And I need to give it a name too…I was thinking Pixie Dust Flyer lol

Thank you! That’s a great tip, I wouldn’t have thought of that!

I painted the panels (shroud) of my scooter pink - her name is The Millenium Pink Flamingo!

Awesome, I love that! I might try to paint mine too and I have second set in case I mess it up!
They used to give you 3 sets, blue, red and silver. I was able to order a second silver and that’s what I spray painted pink and use for spring, red I use at Christmas time and silver for Halloween - I’m thinking of painting the second silver set purple. Blue I use for any other time.

Great idea! Now all I have to do is get DH's OK to bring my scooter with me when I travel by air. He's so afraid that the airlines will make it un-usable that he insists it stay home.

Well, if flying to Orlando, the good news is some of the airline's insurance companies work with Gold Mobility for repairs now, at least on the models they carry, which yours is one of. DH had an issue with Southwest damaging his scooter, Gold Mobility picked it up from the hotel, provided a loaner and returned it fully repaired within a few hours and just billed the airline's insurance company. Interestingly, the airline's insurance company thanked him for introducing them to Gold Mobility because they were having a hard time getting scooters repaired in a timely manner and they were impressed with the pricing Gold Mobility offered for the repairs as well as their communication, just kind of interesting there. The point is for Orlando, it is easy if they do damage it, just have Gold Mobility's number on hand and they will likely be able to work with the airline's insurance company (technically you are allowed to take it anywhere to get it repaired and they have to cover it, but we all know how insurance companies can be).

Interesting you say that because during our recent trip to Orlando, SWA broke my scooter! When they brought it to me at the gate and I turned it on, the horn was permanently blaring. I rode it down to the luggage area to report the damage and they set up for their insurance to fix it. The company that fixed it came to the resort at Disney and brought me my choice of a replacement scooter to use for free so our vacation went on without a hitch. Later that week I got my scooter back nicely fixed.
