After spending way to much time on these boards for the last week, crunching numbers way too much and changing my mind a billion times about where to buy we became members today! I am SO excited. We bought in at 100 points at VWL which is where I want to call home. Maybe it isn't the best value/deal etc. but I will be happy to call it my home for the next 30 years. Got no closing costs, 2009 points and the use year I wanted AND the lower interest rate when if we financed through resale they were gonna charge us a higher interest rate, a bunch of loan fees, we'd pay closing costs and I would have had to wait for the right resale to come along and hope I got it. Cheaper in the long run but not what was right for us. Disney made us a better deal for us (lower payments etc.) and they got the sale! Now.......where do I get one of those cute little moose icons for my signature ! So glad to be a part of such a fantastic community with others who "understand" my obsession!

Disney let you buy only 100 points? I thought the minimum was higher? If I recall, 160 was the minimum when I bought in.

We joined back in December and (after considering resale) also went direct. I couldn't believe how easy it was. I don't think you can put a price on a that - simple, easy, friendly and BOOM! your points are available in your account almost instantaneously!

Thanks everyone! Yes, they let me buy in at just 100. I mentioned I knew about the OKW deal that you could buy in at just 100 for $90 and told them I wanted to buy in at only 100 for VWL. She had no problem doing it- if you want to buy in at BLT or AKV you have to do the minimum of 160. I guess because they are not "sold out"? It pays to sound like you know what you are talking about so they don't mess around with you. I know my DVC stuff!! My guide was fantastic!

What price per point are they charging direct for VWL?

$102 if you buy direct from Disney. On resale it was in the mid to high 80's for a smaller (100 pt.) contract so that isn't a huge difference. Plus once you figure in no closing costs, no hassle etc. it didn't work out so bad! We bought in low at 100 to get our feet wet. I have a feeling we will add on in the future but for now I am ecstatic!!
