Any words of wisdom from veteren weight watchers?

Your support can only help :D

Hi Laurajean!
I responded to your post about WW on the WISH sign in thread, but I thought I'd post here too, and give whatever advice that I can. I've been doing WW online since Feb. and have lost 15 ponds so far. I think my biggest piece of advice goes for any weightloss plan. HAVE A SUPPORT GROUP! When I first started WW I was completely on my own. I has some early success but lost interest and gained a lot of the weight back. Since joining WISH I've felt much better about working the program.
I guess my only good advice about WW is try and plan your day somewhat. I always try and think about what my meals will be for the day in a general sense and how the points will add up. If you go over your points on a day or two don't panic. Just regroup the next day. Something else I always try and do is journal my food, no matter what the point total is glong to be for the day. I once journaled a 30+ point steak dinner. I find that writing it down helps the guilt.
Well I guess that's all the wisdom I have to pass on. Good luck, and do make sure to post here often. It really helps!

Melissa

I agree with Melissa, journalling is a must!!!! If you bite it, write it! :)

Planning ahead (whether it is snacks, meals, whatever) helps too.

Drink LOTS of water.

Something that kamigen suggested to me that made a BIG difference was concentrate on the exercise you are going to do. I was thinking way too much about food. :)

If you need any help or are struggling one day, PM me and I will be happy to help.

Good luck, you CAN do this!!

I just joined WW (again) on Monday night! I feel quite motivated- we walked for over a half hour last night- for me that's a big deal!! I have 44 pounds to lose, but I feel like I can do it this time! Maybe we can inspire each other!!

It is a GREAT program!!!!

Journaling is awesome, make sure you write EVERYTHING down that you put into your mouth!

Try to make it through the first week without splurging or going over (if you can), and maybe bank some points for a little treat on the weekend.

Exercise!

Drink lots of water.

Post here, read, here, post here! ;)

Good luck!

I did WW a few years ago when I had 15 lbs to lose and I thought it was a terrific program. VERY easy to stick with, and I didn't feel hungry at all. The single most important thing for me was to make a meal plan every week, then a grocery list, and then STICK TO IT. If I knew what I was going to be making it took all of that feeling of "hmmmm.... what's for dinner" out of the picture. That's when I was most apt to fail, so I eliminated the possibility.

You can juggle your days around if you feel like chicken on Monday instead of Wednesday, but the only food you'll have in the house are the ingredients for the week's cooking. That really helped me stay on track and I lost the 15 lbs in about two months.

I just wnted to say congratulations.

You can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Congrats on joining.

This is my second year of WW's (last year I lost 37 pounds from Jan-May), and then stopped going to meetings. By May of this year I had gained almost all of it back. (about 30 pounds). What I had failed to realize is that this is a lifestyle change. If I just went back to how I ate before, I would put that same weight back on.

I started back on 6/2/03 and have lost 19.8 pounds so far. I really love WW's and it allows me to eat normal everyday food, but teaches me when I need to STOP. I also have really made adjustments in what kinds of foods I am eating, and am eating healthier than I ever have in my life. This time around, I know that I must journal and watch what I eat forever. The only difference will be that when I get to maintenance, I get to add a little more food back in. I have really gotten used to eating this amount of points, and actually have a hard time getting them all in some days when I eat lots of salads and veggies.

Tips:

Journal
Drink your water
Journal
visit www.dwlz.com (Dotti's Weight Loss Zone)
Did I mention Journaling??? - This is the key!

And don't go below your range in points or you can actually stall or gain weight.

Also, learn what foods you like that are low in points and really filling.

Good luck- You can do it!
Melanie
