I think more than one persion failed the victims. Her OWN BROTHER was in the sheriff's dept. How did he let it get this far?

I can tell you, if any of my siblings had a monster like that in their lives, they would of been handed up some "backwoods justice" long before it got to this.

I am sorry for your loss, but many people failed your friend, including her own brother, IMO.

I am with some of the other posters in thinking why in the world did they talk him out of suicide???

As for *Jen* and her mother, I think they should be more than ashamed - I think they should be held criminally responsible for their part in this murder. They should go to jail for their part in this. The mother giving him a gun?? WTH?!

He has ALWAYS been this way! I remember when "Jen" and I were about 10 years old....he used to set all the neighborhood kitties on fire.


Animal abuse in childhood is frequently an indicator of someone who later goes on to commit this kind of heinous crime. I've never understood why people shrugged it off or ignored it. It's a symptom of a sick and vicious mind to torture innocents - earlier it was cats, now it's a 5 year old child.

And it seems that more often than not, the family makes excuses for them. I'm with you, I don't understand. And I agree with a previous poster, it is enabling, and I think it "encourages" them to get worse and worse (they're always "bailed out").
