I hope the Treasure is not like the Wish

I've never experienced any of the above. If I had I think I just wouldn't cruise DCL. I didn't notice a huge difference between the Wish staterooms and the Dream or Fantasy except for less storage space and the TV not swiveling. I've always found the Disney ships to be well maintained even the Magic and Wonder. I certainly would say something and have it fixed if anything was broken.

The AC on the Wish was definitely a positive.

Not all of us have young kids. Not a fan of loud silly dinner shows or avengers. Don't do water slides either. See how we all like different things?
So why spend all this extra money on a disney cruise then? There are lots of great cruises aimed at adukts who dont have kids, dont like kids shows and water slides.

I really didn’t enjoy Arendelle at all. I did really enjoy Tiana’s and Rapunzel’s so I was expecting good things but it fell flat for me.

Mostly because I don’t think the singer of the folk band when I sailed is a particular good singer. If it had just been music I’d have enjoyed it a lot more. It was really the singing that was too much.
Wow. Stunned. The singers were amazing. The violinists were amazing. The choice of song renditions were a masterstroke. Arrendelle is the greatest dinner show ive ever seen.

We started cruising Disney when my kids were 5 and 7. They are now 20 and 21. There are adults that like to cruise Disney. I don't think that will be us unless the itinerary and price are something that line up.

Because shows in the MDR aren't the only thing to attract people to DCL.
Like what? Just curious to know your thoughts? From my point of view Kids clubs, dinner and stage shows and disney character meets seem to be the areas that puts disney cruises ahead of other cruises. Maybe ship aesthetic as well although there are lots of amazing looking ships now aimed at adults.

Disney is not leading edge in terms of adult amenties, adult entertainment, food, activities, port stops nor pool areas. Other ships do these better including ships that are comfortably cheaper. Maybe you could say disney are leading in friendly service but there are cruises at disney prices where the service is better, albeit its more adult orientated. Disney is perhaps leading edge on service if you have kids.

Most people start cruising Disney when they have kids and have stuck with product because of the service. The older Disney ships have a better adult pool area then many of the other cruise lines. Not all cruise lines offer adult only pool areas. That has been a nice feature on DCL.

THIS! ^^^

We started in 2000 with an 8 month old and 3 yo. Loved the adult areas that we didn't get to much. Then the Dream and Fantasy came out with even better adult only areas and at that time we could get to those areas much more often. With kids in their 20s now DH and I still sail DCL as the service is top notch and we enjoy the ship experience, mostly the adult areas.

You misunderstand. These rooms are not broken. They are just ... tired. If you think you haven't experienced shower curtains, decades old carpets, dated technology, stained tiles, etc. on the older ships, they must not matter to you. Not that they aren't there.

Our kids grew up cruising on Disney - and just loved Disney's wholesome family experience. DCL will always have a special place in our hearts. We have toured a lot of Europe on the Magic, journeyed through the Panama Canal - and into Alaska - on the Wonder, and have gone back year after year to Castaway Cay.

And the new ships mean we also won't have to trade nostalgia for our creature comforts.

I very much agree other cruise lines have better adult experiences - including solariums, specialty dining options, itineraries, etc. And you can cruise in their suites for the price of a verandah on DCL.

But hey, who says we have to pick just one? In fact, experiencing something different can help you appreciate both — like we’re worldly travelers expanding our horizons, not just repeat offenders at the DCL popcorn stand. And it’s nice to remind ourselves that yes, there are other places on Earth besides Castaway Cay… even if it’s only for a week!

The carpets aren't decades old and the tiles aren't stained. The ships have been dry docked and refurbed many times.

Our room on the magic was mostly beautiful, in the bathrooms it did show its age.

Aesthetically the older ships do look darker and dated, but a lot of it is what you like. We actually prefer that dated/timeless look to the current Wish/Riviera aesthetic.

It's like staying in old historical hotel that's been kept up and refurbed. You know it's going to look dated, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

When I have cruised other cruise lines I always look for a new ship because of the uncertainty. I could see first time cruiser gravitating toward the newer ships for that reason.

I know what you mean. Everytime they remodel the resort rooms at WDW it gets more and more "bland diet."
That minimalist style is in style now but plain white walls and almost no theming is so boring. I recently looked at Portofino Bay Resort at Universal. I was shocked at how stripped down the rooms are now. We hadn't stayed there since before Harry Potter was built, probably the late 2000s, but it was sooo Italian-themed back then, I swear I felt like I was in my grandmother's spare bedroom. :goodvibes Now it's all white walls and minimal furnishings. If they downgrade it any further it would look like a Motel 6.

I think it's a new theme in this country. We have a lot of suburb areas and a lot of new apartment building being built. They all look like 6 story prisons. The older apartments are two story with nice landscaping and architecture.. I look at the new apartments and think I'm glad I'm not a young person that has to live in one of these.

Absolutely. Darker (vs modern) theme is a personal preference - but darker doesn't have to be tired. Aulani is a good example.

Looking forward to a Cruise on the Treasure.
The lack of a jogging/walking/shuffleboard/observation bench & loungers track is the head scratcher, but still need a change from the Wonder, Magic, Dream and Fantasy.

Fresh Restaurant themes, fun bars and venues, the Disney character and spirit baked into everything is a big bonus.

Just got off the Wish today and it was fantastic. Sailed the Fantasy last year. Both are amazing ships, but I prefer the Wish. The only issue that was a bother for me was the elevator situation, and on a longer itinerary like the Treasure will stick out less because the main time elevators were a problem was sail away after muster drill and Pirate Night. Otherwise, a fantastic ship and very much looking forward to our trip on the Treasure next summer.
