I hope the Treasure is not like the Wish

I think part of the issue is that the four classic ships do have a running track. So DCL did cater to that niche, and then they 'took it away' (from a certain perspective).
Yes. That's pretty much it. People focus more on what they lose then what they gain. It's why people who have experienced the older ships are biased to think they are better then the new ones even if they aren't.

Same thing happens when comparing old disney rides with new ones.

Part of the reason for this is nostalgia. We have happy memories on old rides and older ships. Our first 5 Disney cruises were on the Magic because there was only the Magic & Wonder back then. The Magic did 7 night cruises and the Wonder did 3 & 4 night cruises. Sailing on the Magic brings back memories of when they were little. Back then, there were no luggage fees on airlines and formal night was real. We didn't, but we'd see families with the dad and all the boys wearing a tuxedo on formal night. A lot has changed.

My husband and son still wear their tuxedos for formal and semi formal night. ❤️ It’s one of my favorite parts of the cruise. ☺️

I'm not a runner at all. But it does seem like a pretty big flaw to not have a complete loop available around the ship without stairs. I'm sure it won't be fixed on the Treasure or even likely on the Destiny. But hopefully they get it right on the next class of ships, and maybe can retro fix it somehow on the Wish class at future dry docks.

What did I gain smaller, adult area, smaller gym? Smaller adult venues? Crowded noisy dining rooms?

I wanted to hit laughing face. But it’s not really funny. Too real. Here’s my shaking head to that realization.

Since the thread is “I hope the Treasure is not like the Wish,” have we just extended it to include the same goes for the Destiny?

And more importantly, hope the plans for those announced future ships will somehow reflect the significant flaws (yes, I think that) that have been repeatedly observed and voiced are remedied.

Throwing this out to the universe. Wondering if the higher ups have a finger on this, possibly the biggest concentration of DCL cruisers in one place.

I think the number of actual runners that want a real 'track' is a tiny fraction of all Disney Cruisers. I spend a great deal of time time outside on the 'track' while cruising, and see maybe 3 people running a day. Quite a few walking, but hardly anyone actually running for a hard work out. I see way more 'runners' up in the gym on the treadmills. I think people just like to complain about what they think they have lost.

I think the opposite. I have run a few times each cruise and there are always 10 plus other runners and 10-15 walkers most mornings. And as I sit out there, during the day there were usually a steady stream of people.

Now realistically, a potential 150 people per cruise is not alot, but for those each cruise, it is important. Not for exercise, but I have also enjoyed a walk around the deck after dinner and watching water go by is one of the best things do do on a cruise. Can it be done elsewhere, yes, but just something else for people to gripe about.

It is interesting to see how different people see things that are in theory the same thing.

There are a fair number of walkers and on/off joggers, so a few stairs should not be a big deal. There are very few out for a serious workout.

I knew this would turn into a running/walking track argument and the thread delivered 😂

The level of drama over that one feature (or lack of) on the Wish has never ceased to amaze me.

The 2 big gripes always seem to be track and “layout”. If I made a list of things that would affect my enjoyment of a cruise those wouldn’t crack the top 20. But hey, we’re all different right?

FWIW we like all the ships, for different reasons, and enjoyed our Wish cruise. DGD loves her some princesses, so Wish was a no brainer to take her on as her first cruise next month. Can’t wait!

Serious is relative. For the majority of the population, a walk is the extent of their exercise. For someone training for a sub 3 hour marathon, stairs are probably not a problem, but for someone that can not walk a mile, it is a huge deal. The marathoner will probably just go to the treadmill for a more consistent speed and step and suck it up. Is it the end of the world to me, no, but annoying, yes.

If serious = burning off all the calories of the cruise, then I think we all fail :)

Better kids club, higher quality dinner show, more immersive bars, better pirates night, better pool area, better upscale restaurant and bar, more spectacular grand hall (nothing competes with the disney wish grand hall when the lights are on) and my kids would say the best water slide.

💯 agree! We also go with we love the ship we are on & that is because it is with our kids. Can’t wait for the Teasure!

Not all of us have young kids. Not a fan of loud silly dinner shows or avengers. Don't do water slides either. See how we all like different things?

I don't care about the new ships. It's obviously going to be a draw for the first time cruisers and the one and done. What bums me out is they don't have better itineraries for the older ships. Next summer it's short Bahamas cruises on the Wish, Magic and Dream.

Couldn't they have changed it up and offered more unique sailings with the Magic and Dream. I predict discounts next Summer. Too many ships going to the same place.

I agree. In all of 2025, the only 7 night Caribbean cruises are on the Treasure, at least the ones that stop at CC or LP. Great if you like to pay top dollar to cruise Disney but after almost 30 cruises, I just choose the best deal I can get when it's not in the dead of winter. We're not trapped with school schedules any more so we're free to shop by price.
Our upcoming 6-nt cruise on the Magic was only $3200 for a balcony. We'd be paying over $5500 for the same week next November on the Treasure with 1 night more. Meh.

At this stage of our lives, we just like to relax and escape the stress of work. Any Disney ship will do.

I get it. I'm a little different than you though with over 30 cruises I like to do something different. If I'm going to do something just for relaxing I want it to be a reasonable price. We are going to Japan next year and that's the big trip. I'm really hoping for some better European itineraries in 2026. Most likely just do a 5 night next August if there's any GT rates.

Apologies as I’ve stopped reading but have seen enough that I’m surprised people are still complaining about the “running” track. For the love of mercy! I love BBQ and shocked it took them so long to add a BBQ station; perhaps I’ll start a thread on “I can’t believe they never had this before”. Okay, (I am cringing a bit as I write this. LOL) but it’s not the end of the world. They do have treadmills for the die hards. They do make pit stops (PORTS) so it’s not like one can’t get their “run on” if the body is in so much pain. It’s not like the ships don’t pose enough outside air. Sorry but it’s starting to feel like a room of crybabies with entitlement. Stop complaining or get off the pot already. If it’s SO important, jump ships. Run Forrest Run. A parent can never please their child, a child can never please their parent and yet it goes on and on and on about how some ships can’t please the masses. Wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which fills faster. Just saying. 😂 Can folks get over it and move on please? It’s like a soap opera on a loop. 🤣

Not sure why you even started reading this thread if you feel the way you do. It is clearly titled as a discussion about what people would like to be different than the Wish. Entitlement has to do with people feeling they are owed more. Not sure how that fits when people are disappointed in something that has always been part of Disney’s ships not being there any more. People should have the freedom to discuss the pros and cons for them of all the ships. It just might help someone new decide which ship might be the best fit for them.
