I bought DS a star wars costume on amazon for halloween. It looked really nice, fit well. He wore it to school on halloween and came home with EIGHT rips in the seams. I had to quickly sew (badly, as i can't really sew) them all before trick or trick or treating that night. 
Completely fell apart. We own five other deluxe star wars costumes and they have all held up well.
So I went on amazon the next day and tried to return it. Found out it was another company, emailed and, not surprisingly, received no response. Their return policy stated no returns on costumes after Oct 31st. Figured I was out the money, but still mad because of the poor construction of the costume. Should have been advertised as one wear only! Anyway, after a few days I filed a claim with Amazon and was immediately given a gift card for the amount.
It would take longer if you wanted the money back because they would have to review the claim. If you took a gift card, it was immediate. Since I shop on amazon weekly, gift cards are just fine.
So, now i'm going to give DS the money...
Anyway, just sharing my love of amazon...
