Have you tried asking the kids what they want?
For our DD1.5, I got a Cabbage Patch Doll, a stuffed Cookie Monster and a toy purse. For DD4, I got more Thomas Train tracks, more Creatrix, and a toy rain stick (makes noise like rain when you turn the stick). Both kids are getting Lands End bean bags with their names embroidered on them, which I'm sure they'll love for watching t.v.
In the stockings, they'll have one each of the following: Pez, Cracker Jacks, Shake 'N Go Cars, and wind-up toys. DS4 is also getting a new Hot Wheels computer game (he has the Hot Wheels Stunt Track games and LOVES them), also a couple of kids songs c.d.s, a funny puppet, a wallet with $5 in it, and a box of Altoids. DD1.5 is also getting a stuffed giraffe, some hair clips, and The Heffalump Movie. I'm sure there's more for their stockings that I can't remember. I'm not certain this is all going to fit, to be honest.
Other items that I've recommended to family members are Leapster games, books, and puzzles for DS4 and a baby doll and clothes for DD1.5.
We're also taking the kids to WDW early in Dec., so that kindof rolls into Christmas. But if we weren't going to WDW, we would probably take them to a show at the holidays: the Live Pooh Show, The Nutcracker Ballet, etc...
If I had a pre-teen or teen, I would probably consider getting him/her a Firefly phone and/or an Ipod Shuffle for the holidays.
You could always wrap up some dog toys for the kids to open and then you could all go pick out a dog just after Christmas.
I hope something in this helps you figure out some gifts for your kids, Patty. Your house is looking lovely!
