Hi
After loads of helpful people off this site I have just upgraded to Premium Economy on our outbound flight. We used some of our miles plus money and had a really good price(well I think so anyway). Never flying premium economy before it will be a real treat for us(me DH and DD4).We have been put upstairs in row 79 (2 seats togeather and one opposite). What am I going to get exra sitting up in the clouds? :cool1: :jumping1: :tigger: :ccat:

Hmmmm extra for sitting in the clouds ie PE, on the outbound don't forget your dedicated checkin if you leave checkin until arrival at the airport on day of departure. You get early boarding and a drink before take off :) Then a meal on china and different selection to economy, after meal Bailey's or Brandy. There is also soft drinks left at the back to help yourself to and a tray of fruit. We also find the crew more attentive as they have fewer passengers to look after. There are two toilets to approximately 38 passengers.
Upon arrival you get let off before economy and as coming down from upstairs often off before UC!! Then it is quick to get through Immigration and your luggage comes off quicker as tagged 'PE'.

Hi. Sorry if I sound stupid but how did you go about upgrading with miles plus money. Had you already booked your economy seats. Sorry if I'm being a bit dim here.:confused3 :confused3

Yes we had already booked economy and we called them and they upgraded us one way.She had to do a bit of gigling about and took a 30mins phonecall as although booked in my husbands name she used miles from my account as well.
Another querey
I couldn't book my seats on the return flight as flying back economy  she said would have to book online 24 hrs before.
If I do this can I still check into PE designated check in on my outbound flight (to boad before)or not?
Does manchester have a designated check in?:yay: :woohoo:

BTW there are 42 seats upstairs, I counted last month, here is a seating plan.

Enjoy PE, it is so much nicer than Economy.

Lol knew it was somewhere round that figure :)

well done! we are in economy going out and pe coming back:)
Wave to me if you see me at the airport!!:goodvibes

Well Done! :thumbsup2

We are flying PE as well! It just makes my trip easier as i'm quite a nervous flyer and the quieter more roomy cabin helps me so much.

Enjoy!:goodvibes

One thing I have always thought is how do you justify paying the extra money to upgrade to PE. I would love to but its normally a difference of a good £500 or more.

justified if you want it and you can afford it.

I know lots of people who dont care and would rather take that money and spend it on the vacation instead, we like to travel nicely and have no problem in paying for PE or Upper class as we know we are happy paying for the extra perks, space etc...

PE is a VERY good way to fly, a nice compromise between economy and Upper. Its miles better than BA WT+ as well.

And ALWAYS ask for the upstairs seating - theres much more feeling of space, aisle is wider, side storage pockets beside the window seats, no intrusion from any other cabins and much more feeling of peace and quiet.

been thinking about upgrading to pe for my outbound flight in june, phoned virgin and they quoted £1350 extra (3 adults 1 child), i asked if the price would come down the nearer it got to departure and she checked up and said it could do, has anyone upgraded at the airport , and if so was there a saving to be made, do they let flights leave without trying to fill the more expensive seats, any info would be great, really really want to go :thumbsup2 PE

You are very lucky, I wish I could afford to pay for the upgrade, may be one day hopefully :)

This year we are getting two free companion flights and going PE so the overall cost has not been that much more than 2 economy seats.

sucumed to the lure of premium ecomomy, after a bit of " haggling " i got 3 adult and 1 child upgrades for £1107, better than my original quote of £1350, only downside was when i went online to pre-book my seats it wouldnt let me book 4 in a row, (2 then 2), only allow me to book 2 then 2 in front, is this normal, (there is seats to the right not booked yet), anyway looking forwrd to experiecing P/E for the first time.:yay:
