2 years ago, we sat down and looked at our finances. We were $25000 in credit card debt, had 2 car loans, 2 student loans, and a mortgage. We had been living above our means and suddenly a few small changes - DH had to take a 10% pay cut to keep his job, his annual bonuses went away, etc., and we weren't bringing in enough to pay the bills. It was a huge reality check.
We read up on Dave Ramsey and jumped in. I have scrimped and saved and sold things. We have gone without, and said no, and made Christmas gifts, etc. I am a SAHM to 2 kids and I took a work at home job to make extra to pay off bills. It has been a long two years. And I just paid off the last of our loans (aside from our mortgage).
I will never let us get into that situation again. I think about how much crap we bought on credit and then how much we really wound up PAYING for that crap - makes me want to vomit.
Anyway, I had to share my joy. It's like a giant weight has been lifted. And now we will be able to work on savings and investing and really making our money work for us. And of course, we are planning a trip to Disney!!!
