This is supposedly a 3 star hotel and through Expedia I was able to get a rate of $51 a night for Fri and Sat and a weekday rate of $45 a night. My dates were early June, 2004. I'm posting this in case it helps some one else make the decision to stay off-site,etc. My room has 2 queens, frig, and microwave. A continental breakfast is included, too. From maps, it appears pretty close to the parks. There are other places farther away that are considered
Disneyland area hotels that cost more.
I saw many 3-star resorts going for over $100 a night; so, I grabbed this one. I don't take too many risks on vacation but I think this is a safe bet.
I was initially staying at the Paradise Pier but I had to rearrange my dates and I lost my great AP rate and couldn't book a new one for the dates I needed now. Anyway, with the money saved I figure I can dine out mighty fine; so, I'm a happy camper. Also, let me share why I changed my plans.
I got involved with a clearing house for a cruise that starts in LA and goes to San Diego, then Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. We stay one day in each place. The cruise ship is rated four out of six stars; so, it's not the best of the best but there are plenty of three star ships; so, I don't feel too bad. Anyway, I get the cruise and Disneyland, now for cheaper then just Disneyland by itself by not staying on-site using the same number of days for our trip. Also, our meals are included on the cruise. Sorry, I can't justify staying on-site especially since we aren't taking any kids. I'm one of those people that has Disney in my heart; so, I don't need the magic of staying on-site. I will check out each Disneyland resort on this trip because we are planning a second trip within a year's time. I will tell you now it will have to be more magical then staying Concierge at Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando to pay the bucks Disney wants in California. I'm leaning already on another cruise when we come back and staying off-site. The fun of Disney is in the parks, not the resort. We don't use the pool (I rather have more time in the parks) and we use our rooms to sleep, not lounge, etc. I will make sure I have a meal at each resort; so, I will take in the Disney resorts from that perspective.
