I have to post this here cause only you guys would understand

We saw The Perfect Storm on our first family trip in 2000. It was our last day. We were parked out. Spent the morning by the pool, then it rained so we went to DTD and saw a movie!

I hate when people go to the movies on vacation!!! :lmao: I guess I can understand OP's husband's want since they don't get movies there until much later, but for everyone else, WHY would you want to do something that you can do at home! I guess the one small saving grace for Disney is the AMC theater at DTD which, as PPs have pointed out, is a dine-in style theater where you can order meals, etc. This makes it a little unique.

The DTD theatre also seems to air movies for longer then other theatres. i was able to see Frozen about 3 months after it came out there.

I feel your pain OP. It's like when we go to the beach, stay in an ocean front condo with a huge pool and hot tubs and someone suggests going into town one day to visit the water park?!?

Maybe once he is in WDW the appeal of the movie will be less exciting than the other options.

Thanks for the replies guys! :cool1:

He does love his movies. It's not so often that this whole 3 months thing happens but it is with one movie and there are two others that won't be out until 3+ weeks after in Austria. He does love his movies! Fitting in 3 with our NY days only being 3 and then 8 in WDW (7 really with the traveling) is super frustrating. I am not interested in any of these.

Regardless, thanks for pointing out the cinema. We do have two days where it could maybe be squeezed in depending on how long a Boma dinner takes. It will mean rushing out and no time spent exploring AKL. Or missing Fantasmic.
But it is a big want for him so it will have to be done. I will for sure find ways to keep myself entertained. :)

I will not off him but I am frustrated. Even with my last analogy of "Disney World is twice the site of Manhattan" he still does not get it. He has never been to FL.
He was all, "it's mostly resorts and empty land for future parks!" Siiggghhh.

Oh, bugger, I'm pretty sure I'd be frustrated too. :goodvibes
On one side, being in the USA, he gets to see those sought after movies much earlier than usual, but geez, at least he can EVENTUALLY see them in Austria!. :rotfl: popcorn::

There won't be any "you get to do Disney 3 months from now" for YOU. Yeah, I'm quite certain I would plan something epic for myself and let him go to the movies solo. :goodvibes Maybe suggest that?

And, WDW, is definitely not Disneyland Paris. This is a different situation for you, I understand, being overseas. For us, we don't do things at Disney we can do at home. Like Splitsville Lanes (even though we all love bowling, we have a way better bowling alley here at home). Movies? My DH knows not to even mention that. LOL.

We do take breaks every now and then at WDW. My DH and DS7 go to DisneyQuest during the day, while DS5 and I hang out somewhere else. We like to do that once in awhile to split up the madness and keep us all happy. They love the arcades, and me and the little guy like to explore or relax at the pools.

DBF is a massive movie fan. Sometimes DTD AMC has midnight shows. I head back to the resort after a long day at the parks and DBF goes to a movie. He is well aware that he is expected to still be up in time for our breakfast or first FP+. He usually only sleeps 5-6 hours so he never has any issues.

Sometimes if it is a movie I want to see I join him. In 7 days if you are doing just Disney I imagine he can find enough time to enjoy his vacation and see 3 movies especially with repeats of the parks.

Well.... I probably go more often than you... if I were only going 8 days every year or two or three... I wouldn't waste a minute seeing something I can see back home on the weekend.
Having said that, I did go to see the opening night of Iron Man 3 at the AMC theater in DTD. I love Disney, but if I have to choose between Splash Mountain and spending 2 hours watching Robert Downey Jr work... I'll have the large popcorn and some milk duds please....
