Should I get glasses or contacts?

Glasses can be cute but contacts are so much less noticable but seem to be so expensive. :(

This sucks I feel like I am getting old.

i have to wear glasses for distance (going to the movies, driving long distances, etc.), so for me, it's easier to just wear glasses since i don't need them all the time and my vision without them is ok. (actually only one eye is bad, the other one is fine...)

if you only need them for some things, i'd say glasses, otherwise contacts...

do you belong to aaa? our aaa gives discounts at lens crafter. :)

I fyou can try the contacts. I have both but wear the conyacts most of the time. I can see better and they are more comfortable.

Well I vote for BOTH. If you can't do both get glasses first, then contacts later. Most people with contacts wear their glasses in the early mornings. They always say my eyes are not ready for my contacts yet.
BTW I have had glasses since 5th grade.

My brother got Lasik last year and loves it!!!

As far as getting old, you aren't...I am teetering on getting BIfocals, ugh. Now that makes you feel old. I have to take my glasses off to read now.

I have both glasses and contacts.

I never wanted contacts, but last year I decided to get them. The first week they were a PAIN (I got a defective one, and didn't know that the tiny little chip out of it wasn't supposed to be there!), but, once you learn how to put them in, they are no bother at all. I like not having to worry about glasses.

But, this year I decided to get a new pair of glasses (I didn't like my old pair). I sometimes wear the glasses, they are good for night time and weekends. :) I also look more intelligent when I wear them.

I used to have glasses and contacts. Now I only have contacts. (The 30 day/night disposables.) I don't need glasses b/c I never take my contacts out. :)

See I know I have an astigmatism in my left eye. I used to wear glasses until I was 67 and the my prents gave up because I kept breaking them. I can see prefectly fine but lately I have been getting migraines and I can't see things very far away. I am afarid to get the darn things because I don't want to be dependant on them :( Grrrrr.... Thanks for the input so far guys.

Edited to say that unless it was a past life i have never been 67... I mean to say 7... LMAO

Preshi, 67? Wow, you don't look that old. :D:D

I wear both and have astigmatism in my eyes too. The doctors say that contacts (at least for me) are better at correcting the astigmatism - something to do with how much they can curve glasses. If my eyes seem 'tired' I'll wear my glasses, and sometimes I put the glasses on after a long day of wearing the contacts.

If you do get contacts you should also get glasses as a backup just in case.

I have both but only wear my glasses during early spring (allergy season). I can't stand wearing them, though.

I have both. First thing after I wake up is I put in my contacts. It makes jogging, working out, showering, and drying my hair easier. If Im going out anywhere I leave them in, but if Im going to be in the house for at least a few hours, Ill change to glasses. If I stay in all day, the glasse stay on all day, but if I go out anywhere later on, the contacts go in.
Some days I wear contacts all day, other days I only wear them for a couple hours in the morning.
I love the disposable contacts as opposed to the regular ones. I learned that lesson when DS dumped my only pair down the drain over a holiday weekend when doctors offices were closed. Now with the disposable(2 weeks) I always have a spare on hand. As for price...I just ordered a years worth for 150.00 on the internet. Thats not too bad, about 12.50 a month to see.

I don't normally need glasses, but I had a problem with the glare at night, especially when it rained.

So, the glasses I got are great for that. I don't even need them at night unless don't know where I'm going and need to see street names.

Anyway, I forgot to tell you that I have no idea which ones for you to get. :)

I have both too, but I voted for contacts because I like them so much better. The only time I wear my glasses is in the morning when I take DS to the bus stop, normally I don't put my contacts in until after I take a shower. If you do go with contacts it is always good to have a backup pair of glasses anyway in case you get an eye infection or something that prevents you from wearing your glasses. For the record, I am nearsighted, so I really don't need them all the time, but do prefer the contacts.

I think you're holding up quite well for a woman of your age Meagan!!! ;)

:teeth:

I could never stick anything in my eyeball, contacts creep me out. Then again, I have almost perfect vision so I have never had to think about which one I would choose. But I do think glasses are cute, and I think you would look good in a pair, preshi.

Of course, now that I'm nearing 40 (not 67, lol!) I can see that my vision for reading is not what it used to be. I guess pretty soon I'll need reading glasses, which I won't mind. Back in the late 80's they made clear lens glasses for people who didn't need them but liked the look, I always wanted a pair of them. I figured I'd wear them when I wore a suit or something, or when I went on an interview. :)

That's how I started out....wearing glasses just for distance and driving.

I guess it just went downhill from there.......at age 23 I needed them 24/7 and that's when I went to contacts. Used to wear them all the time, even took naps in them. Then I became allergic to a preservative in the contact solution called Thimerosol. The veins in my eyes hemorrhaged! Couldn't wear contacts for over a month after that, had to see a special eye doctor that specialized in chemical splashes of the eyes. What an ordeal that was!

I don't think they even use Thimerosol in solutions anymore because so many people had bad allergic reactions.

Now I find myself too lazy to put in the darned contacts. My eyes are now so sensitive (don't know if it had anything to do w/the reaction I had years ago or not) that it's difficult to find a pair that's actually comfortable, and I wear a very high water based soft contact as it is, and only for about 4 hours. Then I can't wait to pull those suckers out!

I just wear them now to dress up functions like parties, weddings, etc.

To work and around the house it's transitions glasses--the kind that get darker in sunlight, then lighten up indoors, love them!

Good luck to ya, I voted contacts because you are such a pretty girl. Glasses could be fun for a new look every now and then, but I think you'd do good w/contacts.
