Okay, I know "weird" and "cat" in the same sentence is redundant... but in all my years of having cats, this is a new one.

We have a very sweet 6 month old cat named Jake. Apparently, the printer has taunted him at some point, because now he flips out every time I print something. He can be sound asleep in another room, but as soon as he hears it making any sort of noise he comes flying in, sits right under it, then attacks whatever comes out! It has now become a race -- as soon as I spool something to the printer, I have to run over there and throw my body between the printer and Jake, to protect what I'm printing from feline harm.

So in honor of my little printer-hatin' Jake, what are some of the bizarre things your cats go nuts(er) over?

I have two cats, and they both go nuts over.. the CAN OPENER!! Apparently, they've learned that to open a can of tuna, it requires two things: a can opener and that "pop" noise that cans make when you stick the can opener on it and pop the seal. So now every time I get the can opener out of the drawer, they come running into the kitchen. As soon as they hear the "pop" noise, all hell breaks loose. :rotfl: They whiiiine and cry and paw at my legs. I swear, I can't open a can of peas anymore without them making a huge production out of it!

I used to have a cat named Grace. She would always come running when I opened a can of mandarin oranges. I tried to give her a small piece to show her that it was NOT tuna but she didn't beleive me...

My cat named Pencil, freaks out and runs underneath our sofa everytime she hears a plastic bag. She's also afraid of balloons. I guess objects that can float in general. :confused3:rotfl2:

LOL!! My cat does the same thing with the printer. :rotfl:

My bengal cat freaks out over anything that is on the floor that isn't usually there. He will sneak up on it, and reach out his paw from far away to slap it. Sometimes, being the mean person I am, I give the item a push towards him as he reaches his paw out and he jumps about 6 feet straight in the air!:rotfl:

Same cat also perches himself on the side of the litterbox and it looks like a person sitting on the toilet, LOL

My siamese likes to nurse on a blanket and she kneads her paws too---very cute.

All my cats freak out if someone whistles.

I think cats keep you young, because they make you laugh every day!

Have you guys seen this video? When Cats Pray.....

My keys were on the floor one day and my cat Izzy was playing with them...well somehow they got stuck on her back (it had a lanyard on it) and she freaked out! Ran all over the house with the keys stuck on her. Now any time she hears keys she flips out and hides!

I don't have cats, but my beautiful black & white bunny gets whacky when I cook something that sizzles. Our family room where he plays is connected to the kitchen. If I forget he's in there and start cooking something on the stove, he'll thump over and over and then find somewhere to hide. I think he's afraid he's going to be next! I have to make sure he's safely in his cage in the other room before I can start cooking! Poor bunny...

My cat Simba loves to play with little stuffed animals. My mom got me a Ronald McDonald Teenie Beenie Baby and Simba stole him off the table and it has now become his toy. Its too funny seeing him carry around Ronald McDonald. Then again he seems to play with just about anything. He is my silly cat.

I'm loving all these stories. Cats are just so odd and funny!!

I have a cat who perches to do its buiness. they all come when you wistle. One is afraid of the toilet. The other is afraid of things that look like animals (funny to see him with stuffed animals) and the last is afraid of men (she pees on them, everytime. Was never a issue till I had a male roomate). As far as cute goes, I have a toilet sitter cat who likes to pounce on people who come in. Its so comical. my other cat right now is rolling on top of a plastic mouse.

My very pretty little siamese kitty, Mia, comes running every time I open a bottle of wine!!

She likes to chase the cork around. I always toss it for her to play with (I have a sparkly mickey mouse wine-topper that I use once the bottle is opened, so the cork is all hers!). As a result, there are wine corks all over the floor and under couches... I look like a total drunk!! ;)

Mia does the "happy paw" on my fluffy fleece blanket on my bed every night before she settles in for sleep, too. She is a super cute, blue-eyed siamese but with pure white little paws and chest. We found her in the engine compartment of the car last November when she was just a baby... thank goodness her meowing alerted us to her presence before we turned the car on!!

Speak of the devil, here she is hopping up to sit next to me. Awww.

:sunny:

I have two 6 months old kittens and they are so funny. one of them, Max, likes to carry his toys around and they usually end up in my son's room. I guess he figures there is enough stuff laying on the floor there he mine as well add some more.

That's what happens when you leave the rabbit stew recipe out.

We were staying with a friend for about a month, and he had a very cute cat. He could entertain himself for hours. He loved the mickey pin backs, and little cat toys. He would take his ball to the top of the stairs just to chase it down again.
And I had our dog with us, and she's just as mellow as possible. We had a cat when we first got her, and she just doesn't mind any animal. So he would jump up on the furniture, walk along the back of the couch to do "steal attacks" at her tail or ears. The funniest was when he would lay on top of the glass table to play with her ears. As if she couldn't see him.

He was a really cool cat, and constantly doing something funny.

I have a cat who will attack a piece of paper on the ground, then freak out and run away to hide. She also runs into walls and attacks her own feet. I don't think she realizes her front end is attached to her back end. If we rearrange our furniture or deal with a box (moved in a few years ago, still unpacking...) she freaks out and cries under the couch.

My other cat loves french fries. Mickey Dee's fried potato goodness is the best, he will sit there and stare at you waiting to get some. We had the breakfast food including has browns one morning, and for a few minutes he stared at our other couch, in an attempt to pretend to not be begging. He will chase his own tail. He gets jealous when my boyfriend tries to touch me. He's taken a few swipes at the dbf.

We have an open landing from our first floor to the basement with a wooden railing along the top. Our Stewie sticks his head & a front leg between the slats & bats at the mice I throw down the steps, sometimes hitting them back to me.

If I'm bending over for a minute, he'll jump on my back and lay there, like I'm his own personal chair.

He likes to get on top of the fridge & very intently watches me do the dishes. He's been studying that for awhile now, I'm waiting for him to take over, but it hasn't happened so far.:guilty:

Around 2 or 3 AM, when it's time for HIM to get up, mommy should get up too. So he walks along the dresser & my desk, knocking things off. That wakes mommy alright.:headache:

Midnight, one of my two cats, is trouble on four legs... :rotfl2:. I love her dearly, but she has a habit of walking along the headboard of our bed (it's sort like a hutch/shelf style) at about 3am, and knocking stuff over on our heads. And she's purring while she does it... as if she is truly enjoying trying to give us a concussion! :rotfl: And she looooves to burrow under any type of blanket. If you pull out a blanket to cover up, say while sitting on the couch watching tv, she immediately jumps up and begins to "tunnel" under the blanket, eventually making herself comfortable in her "tunnel".

My other cat, Misty, she's pretty laidback and doesn't have all the drama that Midnight does. She doesn't do much of anything crazy... except she does like to sit in the window sill, and the jump up on toward the top corner of the window as if she's chasing something, or trying to climb up it. I love kitties... so entertaining.
