I have some questions about Memory Maker

So, we'll definitely be getting Memory Maker when we go in September. I just had a couple of questions.

1. Can you download them as you go or wait until the end of your trip? For instance, I was going to bring my laptop and check out the photos at the end of the day. Do the photos even show up that quickly?
2. Do the photographers let you know when they can do magic shots or do you have to ask for them?

I think that's it. I really just want to know how necessary it is to bring my laptop. We have an iPad as well, if that works just as well.

You want to wait until the end of your trip to download them, but you can check them throughout the day. The regular photos showed up pretty quickly for us, within a half hour or so, and I found that the magic shots took a little longer. Some of the magic shots showed up later, even the next day.

I found that most of the photographers let us know if they had magic shots, and if they didn't, I asked. :)

With the iPad, you will be able to view your photos, but you cannot download them with your iPad. Unless you get something like winzip, or file zip or my media... I forget which one I used, but ended up using my friends lap top, because it was easier. For me, I wouldn't bring a laptop with me, but I'm a very light packer, I don't even bring my iPad, just my iPhone.

So you can view the pictures on your iPhone as well? If so, that's great. I'll probably bring the iPad, since it's more lightweight. Good to know I don't need my laptop.

On our trip in June, we had to ask almost every photographer if they did Magic Shots. I think only one suggested it/offered it up on his/her own. We took tons of photos through them. Having Memory Maker was wonderful and the Magic Shots are my absolute favorite!

As others have said, you can view the pictures in MDE daily, but shouldn't download until you have them all in there and make the edits to them that you want. During our trip, no photographer suggested a Magic shot. We did ask a few about them though. Once asked, they did them.

Yes using your iPhone, you can view them on your MDE under Memory Maker. :)

THey can be viewed on your phone, and I don't know if my problem was unique or may be fixed by now, but I was able to view all the pictures on my iPad using the web browser.; My sister was using her android phone and the app but was only able to see photos of herself, not all pictures that our entire group was having taken. I chalked it up to the app. Perhaps it was user error or perhaps you can just use your phone and browser vs. the app to make sure you see all.

I also suggest not downloading daily even if you have a laptop. Unless I missed something, when you want to download, you have a choice of "download all" or downloading one at a time. Download all will create a few zip files with 20ish photos each and you have to click to download each zip file. As far as I could see, there was no way to select and download a group of selected photos. So, if you download one day, then after that, you have to do the slow process of downloading each new picture singly or repeatedly choosing "download all" and loading your computer with multiple copies of everything.

We brought our iPad to keep in our room & we checked out our pics every night, most were there very quickly like others said.
Maybe we were lucky but last summer when we went we did not ask for a magic shot and we got a few (tinker bell, stitch, chip) I was clueless last year because I wasn't on the Dis, so now I know to ask for more this year! But I really love the ones we did get last year.

Yes, you can view the pictures using your iPhone, but based on what I've read and my experience, you can only view the pictures using your phone's web browser. The MDE app either does not work at all or does not work well for viewing the photos. If you have any major problem seeing the photos, don't forget that you can visit the Camera Care Centers at the front of each park and they can show your photos as well.

As for Magic Shots, in my experience, a few photographers offered to do them but for most we had to specifically ask what shots the photographer could do.
