I have solved all our golf cart problems

I have wondered why Tungo didnt jump on this idea.....After all the success TinaH has had renting out her TT, I thought someone would have been all over this by now.

I'm wondering if you could find insurance on that kind of thing. I'm thinking of renting my camper as well later this year and since I have a toy hauler I thought I'd throw in the golf cart as well but the co. I get my liability from on my business said that would be tough. She found an underwriter on the camper but nobody wanted to touch the golf cart. My guess is, they probablt already heard a bunch of Kungaloosh stories and ditched that idea. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I asked him, he is too far away. I have a cousin that lives 5 miles from the fort, I could get him involved, but more people cost more money LOL

My solution was to buy a good used one with trailer off E-Bay for $1000 in 2003. Its more than paid for itself already. We use it everywhere we camp at FtW or even on weekend trips.

Would we have to plan our vacations around when the cart would be available to us? what if more than ONE person who owns a share is hitting the FT during the same week/weeks?

This was the first snafoo I thought of when I read it, too. But if the glitches were worked out, we might be interested. When we paid $550+ for the 10 days we rented a cart in November/December, both DH and I were thinking "dang, that's 1/4 the purchase price!" (hoping to buy one used some day).

I do like the idea of a local starting up a little side-business. As a renter, I think I'd even pay close to $150-200/week.

Boy I am tired, the title should be SOLVED, sorry.

Useless fact # 25,763 ...... you can change the title to a thread.

Go to your post, then "edit" then "go advanced". I'm just sayin' ....... for anyone's future reference .... or collectors of useless trivia ...... ;) I feel your pain, though -- I did the reverse last night - stayed up till 3:00 am ..... :surfweb: When will I learn? :confused3

Thanks, I fixed it. Now I don't look completely stupid.

...But how about some one who lives near FW buys 4 or 5 carts and rents them out for $100 or so a week and advertise on the DIS. It would be a great way to make extra money plus you would save everybody else money...

I was wondering if a local business, like the Owner's Locker guys, might be interested in taking this on as a sideline. They've got a great reputation on some of the other groups here, and they're in and out of WDW all the time!

We rent a cart every summer from a guy named Steve. He delivers it to the site and picks it up. It's a little cheaper than your proposal, and a LOT cheaper than the Bike Barn, but I'm sure it isn't as cool as the one all of you would design! I'm thinking a stuffed otter head on the front grill, peacock feathers off the back bumper, a Musket Mickey horn, a kungaloosh container on the roof...the possibilities are endless.

That is a great idea for a FW paint job on a cart.

OK, I got some sleep last night, and read this thread today..... please disregard everything that was posted in my sleep deprived state and we will pretend like it never happened.

No...dude....this idea has a lot of potential......although theres some details to work out, but a darn good idea.

Ive kicked the idea around with my wife about moving to the Orlando area and buying a couple of TTs and customizing a few carts and renting them out and seeing if that could help me get out of the business Im in right now. Actually, you could match Disney's rental price...many folks would prefer a custom cart over the factory carts Disney rents out. And, Tinah's rental calendar is full most of the time, so their is room for more service suppliers.....Im REALLY giving this some serious thought.

There are a lot of factors to consider, but the folks at POP have been doing a refer swap that seems to work. Not in the same $$$ category as a cart, but it seems to work for them. If you could set it up so that the cost would be prepaid for specific non overlapping dates to cover the cost of the cart then everything after that is gravy. Then if folks need to cancel they are responsible to transfer their time to someone else. Newbees after the cost of the cart is covered can be a buy-in and then a yearly maintenance fee. Just need someone to get the Cart and do the maintenance.

Breick, do you have the number or website for Steve? We need a cart from June 28-July 6 that is not a small fortune.

I have a few basic carts right off the golf coarse to start the build:thumbsup2

I am breick and Tim5055's info is correct. The rates aren't on the website anymore, so maybe I'll give Steve a call. I usually rent for 3-4 weeks and it's about $450-500 delivered. I used to rent from Golf Cart Enterprises in Winter Garden. They charged $50 to rent their trailer. I had to pick up and return. It's cheaper and easier with Steve unless rental prices start skyrocketing like everything else...

I checked with Steve in Dec...after everything was factored in...It was just easier to rent from the bike barn....He was a couple of dollars cheaper, but JUST a couple of dollars....and the drop off and pickup sounded so stressfull....I just gave Disney the extra $12-15 for the week. If it would have been a $12 PER DAY savings...I would have been all over it.

But Has anyone called CARL'S CARTS???? I havent rented from them, but heard from DES1954 their MONTHLY rental was like $250...so a weekly must've been even cheaper than that. And they deliver as well.

I will call them today, we were planning on the bike barn.... but if we can save some $$$$ I will give it a whirl.

Please let me know what you find out. We are only going for a week and in the past I've called Steve and I aggree with BDR it just wasn't worth the difference so we rented from the bike barn.

Ok, here goes. I called steve, for our 11 days, he quoted $400 with delivery. His rates are $225 wk plus $50 P/U and Delivery. So like you guys said, it was about $40 less than bike barn, IMHO, not worth the hassle.

I called Carls Carts, they gave me a price of $245 a MONTH, plus a $45 dollar service call. WOW that is a deal....only problem is that they don't have any carts in the winter, all the darned snow birds got em, but said in the summer just give them a call. She said that they are trying to add more carts, but all those darned old people with nothing better to do take em all any way. LOL

Any one know any other numbers to call?

Next stop ... bike barn.
