I have old Hopper Plus tickets

I have some days left on my old Hopper passes do I have to get them changed in to MYW tickets or can I still use them like before? I thought I read something about a new system with finger scanning.

Your old tickets are still valid for however many days you have left on them. The old tickets do not require finger scanning.

I thought that I had read that you couldn't use the old passes to obtain a fast pass, is that correct?

I was under the impression that I should turn in my old passes for the newer ones, without a charge. Please advise.

I've never heard about not being able to use the old tickets for fast passes. I wouldn't see why you couldn't. But then I haven't been there with the old passes.

However, it's not necessary for you to upgrade to a MYW ticket. You can still use the old tickets.

Old tickets are being converted to have biometric scans when they are first used again.

Old tickets that fit in the turnstiles may be used as-is and also may be used for fast passes.

Tickets that don't fit in the turnstiles may be exchanged at no cost for more modern tickets with the same remaining privileges.

Old tickets may be traded up towards new MYW tickets although in most cases the exchange rate is bad. You may have a compellling reason to trade up, for example old Hopper Plus tickets do not include Disney Quest while MYW tickets (with Plus Pack) do. Every attribute of the old ticket that was exploited must be added to the new ticket you are trading up to. (Usage more than 14 days ago means non-expiration was exploited.)

It is not recommended to use up old tickets on a given vacation except (1) when you have enough of them so as not to need to buy new tickets, (2) when your vacation is for 1, 2, 3, 11, or 12 days, or (3) the new ticket you buy is for ten days and eventually fully consumed.

As of June of this year ALL tickets (including all Park Hopper passes from December 2004 and earlier) require a finger scan.

We used the pluses on our old passes during our mid-June trip when we visited Typhoon Lagoon with no issues. Nothing was re-issued and no finger scan was required.
Didn't have a need to use any old passes for park admission (although we still have a few left), so don't know if it's different at the 4 main parks.

It is different. The water parks, and DisneyQuest don't use the finger scan.

The 4 main parks will put your biometrics onto the ticket.

How old is "old"?

Whether you can use them as is or not depends on just how old they are. If they do not have a magnetic strip on the back, you cannot use them as is. They must be exchanged at a Guest Relations location for a current magnetic strip ticket.

If they have the magnetic strip on them, then they can be used as is. You will need to do the finger scan now even on the old tickets.

I have a question. I have a ticket from 2 years ago with 2 days on it. Since I have an AP, my son will be using the 2 days. Since this is an adult ticket, will he have to do the scan?? Or will they just allow him to go in.

The turnstiles will initiate a scan because it's an adult ticket. I think he'll probably have to do it.

I don't know if they'll be able to give you a child ticket in exchange for the adult ticket.

That's what I thought. It's not a big deal, I was just wondering. He'll probably think he's cool since he can scan his fingers & his sister can't.

If your child is under 10 and uses a partially spent adult ticket (whether or not the park's turnstiles are doing finger scans) he and you may be questioned since prior use does not make sense with his age.

If your child is over 9 and is finger scanned with the old ticket, and is not questioned, the ticket becomes his at that moment.

His sister can still stick his/her fingers into the biometric scanner although nothing different will happen and the green light may appear first.

Finger scanning may be added to the waterpark turnstiles at any time once equipment is upgraded.

It is a bad deal for a child to use an adult ticket. He may exchange the remains of his child ticket for equivalent adult admission with no extra charge when he comes of age.
