I was on the monorail this evening, resort side. A family got on at the CR. They started talking about how they got on the wrong monorail since they wanted to go to the MK. Should have kept quiet, but I said there was only one monorail that stopped at the CR, and they were on it. They argued, and I couldn't convince them otherwise

I learned tonight that I have no patience for Disney newbies. I'm going to mind my own business from now on

Thanks for listening. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

You are not alone. I hate it but I find my self getting annoyed when people call rides by the wrong name and try to convince me that they are right.:headache: I feel bad about it though...:sad2:

I will often step in to correct misinformation in an overheard conversation at Disney. I figure it is my way of spreading a little pixie dust. Most people are very appreciative. In fact, when I do that, they often will ask additional questions because they recognize that I know what I'm talking about. But I agree with you that I have no patience for the people that proceed to argue with you and tell you that you are the one who is wrong. In fact, I can't stand when my daughter does that either.;)

That's ok. Years ago, when I was waiting to check into All Star Music, a lady in line was telling her friend she could take a boat from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom. I did the same thing you did, but the lady insisted. I wish I could have shown a map of the property showing no large bodies of water connecting MK and Epcot. :rotfl2:

I hate it when people call the Magic Kingdom "Disney." Disney is not a theme park people!!!

we need a club. It can go both ways, people are appreciative or defensive.

Last summer we were getting off of the Jungle Cruise and a family behind us with 3 teenagers started talking about going over to ride Space Mountain, in order to avoid them a wasted trip I turned and told them it was down for refurb, they were sad, but appreciative of not walking the whole way across the park to be disappointed.

Oooooo, I hate this too. I have a friend that insists on calling MK "Disney" it
drives me nuts.

I have one from a non newbie. A friend insisted there was a pool on the roof of BLT. You can imagine her disappointment to find out that it was actually on the ground like all the other pools at WDW :lmao:

Heheh. Now that you mentioned it, I do believe the lady who thought she could take a boat between Epcot and the MK called the Magic Kingdom...

...Disney World. :headache:

She actually said she could take a boat from "Disney World" to Epcot. I think she had the ferry to the TTC mixed up in her head.

I thought she just had terminology problems - confusing a boat and a monorail  Wonder what would happen if she wanted to take a Disney bus somewhere ... :lmao:

One of my best friends call the Magic Kingdom "Regular Disney" They just got back from a trip and kept telling me all about their day at "Regular Disney." It was driving me nuts.

:rotfl: I almost made that same mistake. One of the issues of Disney Files magazine (the DVC owners magazine) had a whole article and cover story on Bay Lake Tower. There was an overhead picture that made it look like the pool was on top of the building. :rolleyes1

:goodvibes Jennifer

I corrected a lady in the bathroom at Star Wars Weekend. She was telling her child they wouldn't be able to see the characters because the fast passes were all gone. I told her she still would be able to see the Disney characters because they didn't require a fast pass. She told me that is what she meant to say.

My favorite is the person walked up to me sitting on the tram at Epcot and asked is this going to Animal Kingdom?

In the past while in the elevators at the Contemporary I have noticed people trying to push the button for the 15th floor so they can get up to the California Grill, but when it doesn't light up I tell them the check-in desk for there is located on the 2nd floor of the Tower. My guess is they didn't know that when making the ADR or didn't see the electronic signs in the lobby that mention that, however they always said thank you and appreciated the information from me.

I have had every spectrum of things happen when something like the OP said happens. I've had people be so thankful and ask other questions. Or they just dismiss me or they want to argue. I don't argue with anyone, if they say "Oh no, I'm sure I can take a boat to Animal Kingdom from Epcot." I just leave it at that. Once at the resort bus stop at DTD a family asked the man next to me where the bus stop for Universal was. The man said he didn't know. I explained that you can't get a bus to Universal from DTD, they said their guidebook said they could and they walked away still looking. I don't argue or get upset if they don't believe me, I figured that I tried. If they want to wander around looking for a non-exsisent boat or bus more power to 'em.

Ok don't flame me but at times when I say Disney I mean MK. It is a habit I am trying to break but every once in awhile I slip up. The reason why I do this is because at one time MK was the only park. So forgive some of us who are a little set in our ways but are trying to change.

I'm definitely guilty of using old/original names for things, even if the name change happened many, many years ago. To me, it will always be the WEDway People Mover, for example.
