I have how many food pix? Time for a dining review!! Completed!

We had never eaten here either (we tend to snack more at the MK and not have as much CS here, with the exception of Cosmic Ray's and Caseys) so we decided to try it out and enjoy the well lauded Figaro Fries along with a few other items.

We ordered a lot of food to share:

pinnochios-lunch.jpg

CS credit: Cheesesteak sandwich, apples on the side, chocolate cake and a large soda.

Snack credit: Figaro Fries (french fries, cheese, bacon, ranch dressing, lettuce and tomatoes)

We sat at a great table overlooking IASW and I just loved the atmosphere of this restaurant...very charming! The sandwich was very good - the cheese was a bit salty tasting, but I love salt so no problem there. DS ate the apples (loves those things, thank goodness!) and the chocolate cake was decent for prepackage desserts. The Figaro Fries were very salty (bacon+salted fries+salty cheese) but we all enjoyed them a LOT! Definitely filling though! All in all, we'll be back to this restaurant.

On our very last days of vacation, we usually go to DTD or hang around the resort. I can't remember a time we've gone to a park when we have to fly out that day. I think it's because it's sad to be around all the happy people in the middle of their vacations when we are ending ours. But on the February trip, DS and I had lots of time to kill before leaving for the airport, so we checked in with ME, put our carryon luggage with bell services and took the boat from VWL to the Magic Kingdom for one last Buzz Lightyear and some shopping for present for DH from Main Street. We had lunch at the hot dog stand in Tomorrowland and stopped for an ice cream:

plazaicecreams.jpg

DS had a Mickey ice cream cone - vanilla ice cream (his choice - he loves vanilla...:confused3 ) with chocolate disks to make the ears. He wasn't crazy about these, but they were really cute. I got a scoop of strawberry ice cream. It was okay, but as it was Edy's, it is something we can have at home any time.

The ice cream parlor was wonderful - the CM's were really sweet and the atmosphere is elegant and welcoming. We sat outside overlooking the castle and I took a great photo of DS that is cell phone wallpaper.

Your reviews are great - your family eats a lot like I do!

Thanks! We definitely have our favorites!

I have a goal to get this done soon, so I don't leave it open when we leave for our next trip. So be looking for lots of updates in the next few days.

Great reviews !!!! It's been a while since I saw your posts (I read your TR.. or maybe you read mine... or both :rotfl: )

Figaro fries only have cheese and bacon on them now. I was at the MK on April 23rd and tried to get them... Village Haus was closed for the P&P :sad2:

Went back that Sunday (the 26th) and was told that the 25th was the last day they served them with the Lettuce, Tomato and Ranch. I was very upset, so one very nice CM actually found the ingredients and made me an order, but he told me that I was the officially the last guest to get Figaro Fries the "old way".

They were really yummy, so I hope that they have changed them back!

I believe SonnipiLady is correct :(

And thanks!! We leave in less than three weeks and with the new free internet at the DVC's I am toying with the idea of a live report!

:guilty: There was something really interesting and yummy about the veggies and ranch.

We stayed at VWL as a family for almost a week on the Thanksgiving trip and DS and I were there alone for 4 nights in February, so we ate at Roaring Fork a lot. For those of you who have never been there, it's the CS restaurant just off the pool downstairs at WL. The serving side has a counter for fresh hot food - chicken nuggets, strips, cheeseburgers, flatbread pizzas, etc. The CM's were always really great and cooked most everything fresh. The other counter has cold sandwiches - served in huge wedges - and salads. IN the middle you can pick your dessert (cookies, cupcakes (YUM!), bars, muffins) and then a drink (bottled waters, milk) and there is usually chili and a soup of the day to pick from. There are also soda machines for the refillable mugs, coffee, cocoa, etc. and a cooler with ice creams and frozen desserts (Mickey bars!). I also remember a soft serve ice cream machine.

Next to the room where you order and pay, there is a large area to eat. very nice fixings bar is in there too and you can also get your food to go and take it on a tray out to eat by the pool, or up to your room.

So the collection of Roaring Fork meals from both trips:

Let's start with the very exciting chocolate milk, brought back to our room for breakfast the next day:

rfchocolatemilk.jpg

Bacon cheeseburger and fries, brought back to room. VERY good, but best eaten hot right away. The fries travelled very well and there were way too many of them. :thumbsup2

rfbaconcheeseburger.jpg

The toppings I brought back:

rffixings.jpg

Chicken tenders and fries (so good!)

rfchickentenders.jpg

DS's usual - chicken nuggets and two sides. He usually picked applesauce and chocolate pudding, but he could also have had fries, Jell-O, chocolate chip cookie or grapes. He never got fries though, because we always had so many from ours.

rfnuggets.jpg

My absolutely favorite from Roaring Fork: The Grilled Chicken Salad with Apple Vinaigrette. Allears description: Granny Smith Apples, Candied walnuts, Tillamook cheddar cheese, croutons. This is just SO good! The salad is crunchy and the combo of cheese and walnuts is delicious. The dressing is sweet and tangy and very refreshing. I order this every trip.

This has a bacon cheeseburger (and a DS!) in it, but the photo is really about the cupcakes. DS and I LOVE these cupcakes. They are super moist white cake with buttercream frosting and sprinkles. We have been known to stop at Wilderness Lodge just to get cupcakes for DS and for me. :rotfl:

rfdinner.jpg

Roaring Fork Brownie: HUGE!!! I wish I had a quarter or something next to this to show how big it is. If I had to guess, I'd say it's almost the size of a paperback book. No lie. And delicious!

rfbrownie.jpg

Magic Cookie Bar - this was okay, but very dry. I've had better ones homemade, but I think this might have just been an overcooked batch. Size? See brownie.

rfmagicbar.jpg

DS's favorite flavor ice cream (vanilla) in soft serve, after the trip back to the Villas:

rficecream.jpg

Huge sprinkle sugar cookie, which was nice, and a CUPCAKE!!!

rfcupcakeandcookie.jpg

(I should point out that birthday cake from grocery stores is my favorite food in the world, bar none...so take that into account when you consider my review of a sprinkle cupcake :lmao: )

Those cupcakes do look delicious, I love the ones at EoS, your buttercream tastes different to ours and I must find the recipe :rotfl:

Okay, before I describe everything from Spoodles in my reviews I have to say one thing:

I love this place. LOVE it! It isn't perfect - we've had ick food here in the past (four cheese flatbread was not a family favorite - blechhh!) and I haven't been excited about the chocolate orange cake, but otherwise? I love it. So get ready for an over the top love fest review!

Spoodles takeout - pepperoni pizza. I thought it was good, DS loved it and DH liked it. It reminds me of Sbarro's

spoodlespizza.jpg

Spoodles breakfast:

Spoodles Breakfast Platter - All You Care to Eat platter of scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, French toast, bacon, sausage $12.99 per person. DH usually gets this and he loves it. They serve it with a side of condiments - butter, syrup, ketchup. You can see the sausage missing from his plate - he doesn't care about it much and DS loves it, so it flew off the plate as soon as it was set down.

spoodlesplatter.jpg

DS's waffles (and fruit from me)- loves this!

spoodleskidswaffles.jpg

My Fire-roasted Vegetable and Feta Cheese Frittata - open-faced omelet - All frittatas are served with breakfast potatoes and a muffin; add bacon or sausage for $2.99. I ordered the sausage on the side to share with DS and was disappointed to recall that it was sausage patties, not links. Still good though. But one MAJOR problem with my frittata: I didn't think to ask about fungus. Yup. Of COURSE the veggie fritatta comes with mushrooms. I ate around it and enjoyed every other part ( I love feta cheese and there was a mound of it). I would definitely get this again without the mushrooms. The breakfast potatoes are hidden under the top of the frittata. I asked for the eggs done dry (hate runny eggs!) and they were cooked perfectly.

Another note - my frittata came with a muffin, but before I even asked anything the server CM said the day's choice was bran and would I rather have fruit? I got the distinct impression the muffins were not good (although I do like bran muffins) so I got the fruit to share with DS. As you can see, from his photo, he poached it all ;)

Like the hidden Mickey they made with the sausage? :lmao:

And that was our Spoodles breakfast for the Thanksgiving trip.

These taste EXACTLY like the ones at EOS (which I prefer only because the cake to frosting ratio is better :rotfl: ). I make my frosting with powdered sugar, butter and vanilla and a little milk to soften.

popcorn:: popcorn:: PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

I just loved MickeyNicki's live report and we'll have nine of us total on the DDP so lots to report on. And I am SO excited about the free internet at the BCV's!
