I have had it with SSR and the busses full of people just going to DTD!

I am a DVC member, own at SSR, stayed at other DVC resorts are well but many times here (I am here this week too) and I have absolutely had it with SSR and the trend the continues to worsen.

Every time we go the SSR busses from the parks seem to fill up with more and more people just trying to get to DTD leaving many staying and paying at SSR waiting for other busses instead.

It certainly doesn't appear they send more busses because of this and it is VERY obvious this is what is happening when guests on the bus aren't sure what stop to get off at, most get off at grandstand (the first stop) and appear lost, or they ask people or the bus driver how to get to DTD. Also the SSR bus stops have been consistently the busiest at every parks in the afternoon and evenings when we leave than any other stops and I can tell you SSR is not as occupied as other resorts right now

With the new bridge, cast members and bus drivers even telling people that's how to get to DTD from the parks, and Disney Springs coming that will be even more of an appeal.....how or when will this be addressed?

I understand that anyone with a park ticket can take any transportation and also the issue busses to/from DTD and people taking advantage of parking there for free but this trend and issue that is getting worse honestly makes me want to reconsider my ownership at SSR and I love SSR and DVC.

Disney needs a bus route FROM the parks TO DTD...somehow....or send additional busses for SSR than they are now from the parks.

I agree that the problem will only worsen when DTD is fully complete. SSR cannot be the resort to go to to access DTD and my opinion is the bus drivers and CM's should be telling people to go to the nearest resort and catch a bus to DTD. If you're at MK, go to the Contemporary, etc.

I would definitely write to Member Services to suggest they have direct bus transportation from all parks to DTD.

I don't understand this - are they getting on the SSR buses from the parks to reach DTD because that's the only way it would make any sense? How in the world do they think this is going to save them time?

Guests want to go from the parks to DTD and ask or assume how and get told to use the SSR bus and walk across the bridge or just know that's the resort next to it and this is what introduces the problem

How is this any different than people going to SSR for the purposes of getting to DTD? This suggestion only shifts the burden away from SSR and moves it to the Contemporary.

I'm guessing that the majority of this problem are folks who are not staying on property that want to avoid paying for parking at one of the parks, thus parking at DTD for free and hitching a ride on a "complimentary" bus to the parks.

Perhaps they should begin to scan magic bands as you board the buses at DTD, thus showing proof of staying at a Disney resort before allowing entry onto the bus. Sure, this would be a pain, but I'm not sure how else they could solve this problem. I suppose they could begin charging for parking at DTD as well (I thought I read somewhere that they intend to do so in the parking garages once complete).

It's hard to stop all of the loopholes that allow cheaters a free ride, but I see this as a viable option. Disney has come up with innovative ways to solve problems that I always felt were pretty hard to overcome (i.e. pool hoppers, rapid refill mugs, etc.). I think if enough people "squawk" about this, something might be done in the near future.

Disney has said that parking at Disney Springs (DTD) will remain free of charge.

I'd be curious to see that in print. Don't take that the wrong way, I just spent about 10 minutes trying to search for a confirmed answer to this via Google and found nothing that indicated that parking would remain free. I did, however, find a number of articles that speculated that Disney would begin to charge for the privilege...

And a later article in July still with no confirmation...

This is the most direct route from The parks to DTD

Except Disney transportation isn't only available to these staying onsite. This is a legitimate use of the buses all Disney needs to do is provide adequate buses to cover demand

Not sure I agree. SSR DVC Member dues pay for the transportation to SSR. Maybe the DTD merchants need to pick up a portion of the cost. If I owned SSR, I would not want to pay for extra buses to accommodate those going to DTD from the parks.

Exactly!

Bravo Carol Bravo! I Do own at SSR and agree completely!

But Disney state transportation is open to all. You can't say yes but all except people going to DTD via SSR.

We often take the boat from HS to the Boardwalk to have a walk around and visit the Boardwalk even though we aren't staying there. Isn't that the same thing? Is that equally wrong. We also use buses from parks or DTD to go to resorts for meals staying onsite or offsite is that also wrong? I really don't see how you can define what is an acceptable and what is an unacceptable use of buses when Disney CMs themselves are telling people to use the SSR buses to go to DTD. We were staying at a DTD resort in February and waiting for a DTD bus which never came after dinner at the Contemporary and were told to go to the MK and get a SSR bus.

You cannot have transportation open to all guests then exclude some. Now if Disney needs to fund it differently that is another issue but transport is either available to all WdW guests or it isn't and at the moment Disney states it is open to all so one doing this are not breaking any rules in fact they are following Disney guidance

I hope they do start charging for parking at DTD. They can do what they do at Disneyland - 3 hours free, 5 hours free with validation. It's unlikely anyone will stay longer than 5 hours shopping or eating at DTD.

Legitimate guests are allowed to use the transportation and given Disney does not provide transportation directly to DD from the parks, this is the only method to get there using the bus system by getting to a resort first. And with the parking situation it's not unexpected that people would park at SSR and ride over. The group in question would be those parking for park usage which I'd guess is a minor component in this situation (normally it's a big problem for SSR from DD). Disney does need to compensate with additional buses to cover volume and they should shoulder the extra charges themselves given the specifics.

They really should provide bus service to and from the parks to DTD especially to take the pressure off the SSR route. Maybe when they move the bus stop to the new central location they will have actual room for a dedicated stop at DTD. There is such a bottleneck there now and bus service to and from the resorts is horrible.

The issue isn't folks riding different busses to get to where they need to be it's that the majority going to DTD from the parks are taking (and being told to take) SSR because a direct route doesn't exist and since they don't run extra busses that puts a big strain on SSR busses and those needing to ride those busses to SSR that are actually staying there
