Hi Monique!!! I know how scared you are. Remember that your attitude and outlook have a great impact on your recovery. Every woman on my maternal side has had breast cancer..my mom, her mom, her aunt, her cousin...all at the same age. It's really spooky. But, and this is the big but, none of them have died because of bc!! I know it is in my future, I have been to the specialists and been told I am very high risk and what to do. It is scary to know that that awful thing is just sitting inside you. Keep your attitude good...its such a big thing. Come to the boards and vent, ask questions. The Breast Cancer thread is a terrific one. They know what you are going through. A lot of good info over there. And you are in a great state as far as medical research is concerned. All this being said, I'm sending along prayers and some hugs....yet one more prayer never hurts!!!

I'm glad your going to Dana Farber. I've only heard good things about them through my friend.

She had a rough year 4 years ago but today is just fine. We just spent last weekend together at WDW. All through her year, she had positive thoughts and plans to go here and there with us and her husband. She knew after her surgery and treatments, there was a few vacations waiting for her.

Good luck and start planning your other year ahead!

I was recently dx'd with BC as well - my surgery is scheduled in 10 days.

As I don't have children, I can only guess how that adds to your anxiety. Please try to keep positive thoughts & have faith in the advancements made in treatment. My mother is a 16 yr. survivor and still going strong at age 87!

Hang in there, okay? I'm doing the breast biopsy scare as I type so I know the fear you've had and what you're facing. I've also had thyroid cancer and had young kids at my diagnosis. It's all very scary stuff.

Just come here and keep posting and keep your mind of things. That's what I'm doing this weekend!

First to you. May I suggest that you contact the local American Cancer Society near you or you can call 1.800.ACS.2345. ACS has a program called Reach to Recovery, where you are able to meet/speak to a breast cancer survivor whom is similar to you in experience. It is a great way for you to get additional support. ACS can also help you with transportation, counseling for you or your family if you are interested, and really navigate you through local resources to help you and your family cope during this difficult time. Take each day at a time and STAY POSITIVE.

I too am going through the fear. I just had a breast biopsy on Tuesday, I too am very scared. I am awaiting the results hopefully I will hear on Monday.
