How can I cook the chicken in the crockpot? The only thing I have used my crockpot for is meatballs, and stew.

I have no idea how to cook things like steak and boneless chicken/pork. Does anone have a recipe I could use? TIA

I have no idea but
you may want to post this over on the cooking board
they have alot of great ideas
and even a whole sticky on crockpot ideas :)

Do you all like salsa? Have any? My DD's (12) favorite is chicken and a jar of salsa in the crockpot all day. That's it...no one ingredients. For dinner, I fix some rice and a veggie or salad.
Yummy! and EASY!

:thumbsup2 here's any easy one for ya....boneless chicken breasts, 2 cans cream of chicken soup-empty into a bowl and add some water a can full or two put it over the chicken cook on low all day or high for a couple of hours....your kitchen will smell so good.......I then get some frozen noodles, boil them and strain them dump them into the crock pot. dinner is served. I usually spray the crockpot with pam. :cheer2:

Good comfort food. Very easy.
==============================

4 chicken breasts, no skin, no bone, R-T-C
2 cans cream of chicken soup, condensed -- (10.75 ounce)
1 onion -- finely diced
Your choice of amount of frozen peas and carrots
1 package refrigerated biscuits -- (10 ounce) torn into pieces

Place the chicken, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover. Cover the slow cooker, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High.

Tear each biscuit into 8 pieces or so. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

Looks bad when you serve it, but tastes pretty good for an easy recipe.

Crockpot Sour Cream Salsa Chicken

4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
1 package reduced-sodium taco seasoning mix
1 cup salsa
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup light sour cream

Spray the crockpot with cooking spray. Add the chicken breasts. Sprinkle with Taco Seasoning. Top with salsa. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

When ready to serve, remove the chicken from the pot. Place about 2 T cornstach in a small amount of water. Stir well. Stir the cornstarch mixture into salsa sauce. Stir in 1/4 cup of sour cream.

I serve it over rice.

Try looking at the Crock Pot Crazy thread that has been around for a while. Gosh I just looked and the thread was started in 2002.

You may get a lot of ideas there for other meats as well.

Here are some other crock pot recipe websites. Sorry but I can't seem to remember my favorite site for them.

Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook is a great cookbook to own.

Found my favorite website! Recipe Goldmine is my favorite for tons of different recipes. They have all kinds of sections on there.

Good luck trying out some new dishes.

My kids fave is chicken breasts with just a bottle of BBQ sauce. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. You can even shred it and have BBQ chicken sandwiches.

This weekend I had 3 crockpots going at the sametime! I cooked a pork roast which I used for pulled pork sandwiches and hash. I cooked a pot roast which I used for beef stew and beef and noodles and I cooked chicken breasts that I used for pot pies and chicken chili.

The pork roast I just seasoned with seasoned pepper and salt and let it cook all day in the crock pot without any water. It was moist and pulled apart with a fork.

The beef I seasoned with Sylvia secret seasoning and added a couple of cups of water to the crock pot because I wanted the broth and let it cook all day. It came out fork tender with lots of broth.

The chicken I just put in the crock pot with water and let it cook all day. I have a big bowl of meat with lots of broth.

I don't like to cook meals in mine because I don't like the taste of how the vegtables turn out, but I love to cook my meat in one and use it for later.

4-5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
8 oz mushrooms
2 8oz cans stewed tomatos
1 4-6 oz can tomato paste
couple tablespoons sugar
on low 8 hrs
chicken will fall apart....
mix w/ speghetti noodles or
put on hoagie bun w/ mozerella cheese melted over it.

(i did this cleaning out the pantry...not too bad!)

spread one jar of any fat free chicken gravy on the bottow of the crockpot

place boneless chicken breasts on top of gravy

spread another jar of fat free chicken gravy on top of the chicken breast

scatter a teaspoon and a half of poultry seasoning over the gravy you just put in

place some cut up carrots on top of the gravy you just in

place some cut up red potatoes on top of the carrots

I slocook it all day. Yummy. If you have leftovers, I just serve it over biscuits the next day.

Spray pam in bottom of crockpot. Layer chicken breasts and slices of swiss cheese. Cover with one can "Cream of Blank" soup (you can use any cream of soup there) mixed with 1/2 can water, 1/2 can milk. Cover that with veggies (carrots, potatoes, whatever) or cover it with dry stuffing mix and another 1/2 can of water. Cook all day.

Even my picky kids like Swiss Chicken!

My DH does all the cooking, I'll ask him. I don't like cooking.

Cranberry Chicken:

Combine chicken, an 8 oz bottle of Kraft Catalina French Dressing, a can of cranberry sauce, and a packet of onion soup mix, and let it cook all day - yummy! I like to cut the chicken into smaller pieces (not bite sized, but cut a chicken breast into 2 or 3 pieces) You can make it with any type of chicken pieces - I've made it with bone-in drumsticks and thighs also. I multiply the recipe and make this for family parties & it's always a big hit.(For those who don't use the crockpot, you can also put it in a baking dish and cook in the oven)

Five Flavors Chicken
3 - 4 lb chicken, boneless
2 cloves garlic
½ c honey
1½ tsp ginger, ground
½ c soy sauce
3 Tbl sherry
½ c crushed pineapple with juice (opt)
2 Tbl cornstarch
Mix garlic, honey, ginger, soy & sherry. (Can substitute orange or cranberry juice.) Dip chicken into mixture. Place chicken in crock. Mix pineapple with sauce & pour over chicken. Cook on low for 6 hours. Remove chicken. Blend cornstarch into juice; cook to thicken. Serve with rice or noodles.

I also just cook my boneless chicken in the crock all day (no need to add water or anything), then cool & shred. I freeze it to use later in things like chili, chimichangas, Cajun Chicken Pasta, Chicken Divan, etc, etc, etc.

I just made this the other day - in fact we're doing leftovers from it tonight. Its been a long-time favorite in our house. I have substitued munster cheese for the swiss. I've used a variety of soups too...cream of chicken, cream of mushroom, and most recently tomato ranchero. I've even mixed soups.

Can I just say that my cooking skills have grown immensely since joining the DIS? You guys and your recipes ROCK! I love searching for your recipes and adding them to my files. I have tried so many recipes from you all and they all turn out so yummy! My kids and DH thank you so much!

How do you save the meat so it doesn't get all tough and hard? How long do you save it for? I'm with ya I don't like how the vegetables turn out in it either but the meat is unbelievable, if I could save the meat and it turned out well, maybe I'd invest in a crock pot

Another vote for the "dump the salsa onto the chicken" recipe. :thumbsup2 I shred the chicken when done & serve over noodles.

I've been using my crockpot ALOT more since finding the CrockPot thread on the Craft, Scrapbook, Cooking forum just over a year ago.
