IN DOOR PLANTS.........and one of the spider and pothos holders.....I put two in one pot.....well I have white mushrooms in them....it is in a hanger in front of the windows and there are MUSHROOMS.....I could not believe this...wonder if it is because I didnt' use a regular pot but one of the nice ceramic ones of my MILs that I scoffed up from her belongings.......so do I dig this up or take it out of the pot and do one with drainage?

When I use a pot that has no drainage, I keep a few inches of aquarium gravel on the bottom, beneath the soil, for the extra water to drain into. I've never had mushrooms, so, I don't think it's just because you have no drainage hole. Somehow the spores got into the potting mix. If it were me, and the pothos and spider plants were OK, I would just get rid of the mushrooms and repot, don't know if that's the "best" answer.

Bobbi is right, Marie, the mushroom spores probably came from your potting soil, although they can travel through the air from one source to another. Using a sterile soilless mix should do the trick.

You could try to carefully dig them out, or cut them off, but they'll keep coming. They usually aren't harmful to your plants.

:)

they are ugly today.........My mother in law who worked for years at a florist always told me to get the Florists soil and not buy it in those bags from the stores.......not enough sterilization in those she would tell me....so I will take that out and put it in another pot with some more soil........

THE OTHER THING she taught me........never call it DIRT.......it is SOIL :sunny:
