I have an older flowering can that I'd like too....

spruce up and put annuals in it on my porch. However, it needs to be repainted and possibly sanded down. Can you sand down something like that to get a smoother finish before painting? And should I paint it. It's lost it's shine but it's silver and it has these little bumps all over like the metal had been washed to many times or something. It's hard to describe...any suggestions????

Maybe a small acid wash or something.. But I agree it sounds good the way it is...

I wondered about the way it is. It does make it look a bit older and rustic. Thanks for your opinions.
