I've contemplating asking this all day but chickened out. I'm hoping the answer is that this is sign I'm coming into money. ;)

My belly button (I know, I know - navel) hurts. It's really sore to the touch, but nowhere else around it. It's red looking. Any ideas? I have an out-y if that makes a difference. :rolleyes1

I have no clue and didn't really want to call the doctors office yet. This is so weird and I can't believe I'm asking it.

If it hurts when you press on it, it might be an umbilical hernia problem. You shoyuld probably get it checked out. If it's a skin soreness, then you need to quit digging for lint.

that's ok to ask. I have no idea what it might be but If it still hurts tomorrow I would call the docter

Thanks for that lint advice. It just seems to be skin soreness but I promise I haven't been digging for anything. :smooth:

Do you guys have a prob w/ lyme disease out there? I'm from the east coast and lyme disease is a prob here.

The reason I ask is that DH had a knot in his belly button, then eventually it started to turn red and a week later he noticed a red rash around it. He had a lymes test and sure enuff... that was it!

Hhhmmm...

Let me know if that is what's really going on :rotfl2:

DS's belly button got infected a couple of years ago because he didn't dry it thoroughly after taking a bath. It was very red and sore to touch.

The Dr. prescribed some drops and it cleared up within days.

Ok, this is going to sound weird...but...

since you're an "outy", do you have any creases/crevices/folds in your belly button area? Like a place where bacteria can hide? I ask because I know with "inny" belly buttons, it's possible to get a yeast infection. A friend of mine had one and your symptoms sounded like what she had.

EEEEEK - bacteria, lyme disease, I'm totally creeped out now! I'm going to pour peroxide in it now to see if that helps! If not I guess I'll call the Dr tomorrow. Yuck, why me!? Thanks again!

This may not help much, but my doctor has me putting peroxide in my belly button. But mine is a surgery incision.

If it hurts, I suggest seeing a doctor.

I was thinking maybe you got a bug bite in the belly button area and that is why it is red and hurts, do your pants rub in the immediate area? This could be causing the problem to get worse.

Ummm, HOW on EARTH does one dig for lint in an Outy belly-button? (I honestly don't know, sporting an inny myself.)
