I have a question.

Okay, I wish I hadn't used that as an example now. It was just an example, not the question. Don't get too caught up in that part.

I was just curious what people thought, their opinions on the matter.

Mine is; Wrong & right aren't black and white. What's wrong for me, might be right for you.

'Wrong' isn't a physical thing. It's a judgement, and opinion. Abstract. So I would say, yes. It is the right thing. For you.

Eh, okay, now I'm not even sounding coherent. Anything abstract is very hard to convey with words.

If it were a truly autistic child, then no. Killing that child because they are autistic is wrong. My mother used to teach pre-school and she had an autistic child in her class when I was subbing there after school. Was he difficult at times? Yes. Did it take a lot more time to explain things to him than the other kids? Yes. But in no way would I believe that anyone would have the right to kill that little boy because of something he has absolutely no control over.

Autism does not cause any physical pain, so the only thing that could cause them to suffer from really is frustration and not being able to relate to others the way so called 'normal' people do.

On the topic of what's right and wrong, I think it really just kind of depends. Do I believe that what Hitler did was right? No. Killing innocent people just because they don't fit within some 'ideal' category is wrong IMO. But, he thought that by doing what he was doing, he was going to make this perfect, safe world and everyone (aside from those who were being tortured) was going to be happy and live these happy lives.

So..yeah. What's right and wrong would really just kind of depend on how you were raised, where you live, your opinions, your family's opinions, etc.

Yea, my brother has asperger's syndrome which is high functioning autism and I hate it when people act like kids with autism aren't able to think or anything. They are usually very bright and smart.

I said severely autistic, not aspergers. I mean so severe that they are basically trapped in their own head.

I'm not condoning it either way, & now I'm really wishing I had picked a different example.

Exactly. Right and wrong are gray areas.

I am not even going to get in this conversation. I'll say something and make someone mad.

I believe if they are right in the mind and freely say that is ok, and they were hurting then yes. If they aren't then it is up to the parents/guardians.

Oh I know what you meant. I was referring to the other poster who was talking about autistic kids. Even if they were "trapped in their head" so like in their own little world, I still wouldn't think it was ok because they were able to think they just didn't communicate with the outside world, able to eat and use their bodily functions.

I think maybe you were more thinking along the lines of a severely mentally retarded child...a really really bad one that wouldn't be able to do anything for themself, basically was like a vegetable.

Basically, yeah.

And by the way, I do agree with you.
